My best friend is getting married at the age 19. I'm in college and won't be able to make it home for the shower, only the wedding. What are some good ideas for an inexpensive gift that I could send to her? Any ideas would help! I am not the wedding type/house wife kind of girl!

if you don't want to get her house stuff, which is what she needs, i suggest sending cash. then she can spend the money on what she needs and postage won't be that much. :) postage is yucky.

I would suggest a gift card. They are the best gifts to give when you have no idea what to get. Plus she can use that along with the others she will get to buy the more expensive things she registered for at stores. Gift cards are also very inexpensive to mail. It's not really about how much you spend, just the thought you remembered her.

My favorite thing I got from my friends was Lingerie :) Not all of them got me lingerie but the ones that did told me they had fun picking it out! And even if your friend opens it at a shower where there are older relatives (even really uptight family members), they are usually aware that two people getting married are going to have sex and don't make the bride to be feel bad for getting that kind of stuff.

My relatives (ex: Aunts, grandma) got me more practical things I could use around the house, like towels, pans, stuff like that. Which was great too.

If she has a registry you could do that too :) that way you know for sure she wants it.

If she has a registry, choose a gift that you can afford off of that. Or choose a few really inexpensive gifts from the registry and make a gift basket out of it.

If there's no registry, does she need help furnishing the place they'll be living in?

First take a look at her registry, try to get her something off of that. This way you are getting her something she really wants. If you do not like anything on there, send her a few candles, a bottle of wine and some lingerie with a notes that says to a special bride for her honeymoon.

I'm sure she'll have a registry. You are in college so you probably can't afford much.

Also who says you have to get a house wife kind of gift? You know her and she is only 19. What does she enjoy doing? Perhaps you could get her something like that?

Some gifts I loved were a really nice corkscrew set, Good Grips stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond (pot holders, ice cream scoop, garlic press, silicone pans), and some of the funky things like a quesidilla maker. margarita pitcher, or wine cork trivet. Lots of things on our registry were funny--game room type things--for our friends to get.

Or get them some cute "setting up stuff--aprons, bathroom items, memo board, egg timer. Or stuff only a close friend could get her--massage oil, lingerie, girlie stuff--massager, foot spa, lotions.

Usually there are a lot of stuff on the registry for just a few bucks. You could get 5 or 6 little inexpensive items.

After all she is your friend--I'd get her something that is clearly YOU or clearly HER. I get my friends stuff that I knew only their close friends would know of--the one item my guy friend put on his registry was a pizza stone so thats the one item I got, just for him. One of my guy friends was marrying a woman and getting a stepson. His best man gave them matching father/ son baseball gloves. It doesn't have to be something housewife/domestic. It could be something you know your friend would like.

Find out where she is registered. You can look online and shop, get it shipped to her w/o ever leaving your seat.

Make sure you check her registry to avoid getting her a duplicate gift. I am sure that you want to make it as special and unique as possible since she is your best friend.

Worst case, get her a gift card to a local department or home furnishing store she frequents.

If she has a registry, hit it up for all the cheap things like a set of towels. You can wait until after the shower an pick up all the odds and ends that people left off. One time I went shopping off someone's registry to see that some people bought 2 out of the 4 of dish towels and washcloths. I tired up all the odds and ends with my shopping expereince.

If she doesn't have a registry, buy her a nice picture frame:

Send her money, that is always appreciated, especially when planning something that costs a lot like a wedding ( :, and money means easy shipping for you too, stick it in a card w a heart felt note

Or, sexy lingerie, that is always a good gift for bridal shower!

A gift certificate would be your best bet,and since you wont be there for the shower you can mail it along with a shower card for your friend.Hope this helps.

Does your friend have a registry? Perhaps pick something from the things she registered for. You can always ask her what she really wants to make sure you get her what she needs.

Otherwise, I recommend a good set of pans, fancy wine glasses or lingerie! A girl can NEVER have enough sexy lingerie.
