What is evil?

Evil is the absence or shortcoming of the perfection of good. Therefore, one could not be both evil and good except in degrees of each. If one were pure in one, then there would be a total absence of the other. Unless you do not mean "pure" in the way most people understand it.

According to scripture (and logic) that is not possible:

Matt. 6: 24 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/matt/6/24#24
24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

It might be possible for a person to think they are purely good and be completely evil, though.

No. It is not possible to be pure anything. Not even Irovy soap is 100% pure!

Pure implies 100%. I doubt that you could be 200% of anything.

Apparently it can be, looking at the Christian God. I'm pretty sure creating a Hell specifically for your Creation is the epitome of evil

That's how religion used to be regarded before monotheism.

Everyone of us, everything in nature, everything we experience, has elements of both good and evil.

I think monotheism has driven mankind crazy with ideas of absolutes that are non-existent.

It is completely and utterly impossible to be either, let alone both.

*Edit for John*
It's spelled "Hinduism" and it has NOTHING to do with any "new age". Actually it's FAR older than any christian church.
