Like Forrest Gump said "Stupid id as stupid does." The government was elected by the people.

Well, I'll throw my overly simplistic two cents in. First, I think it's because people want to trust, no matter how misguided and misplaced that trust may be. The alternative is to admit that there is something wrong and to have been played the fool. That's a big pill to swallow, it's easier to just point a finger at the 'other guy', any 'other guy', and ignore the three pointing back at yourself.
Second, it's easier to "just ignore it... it will go away". That's the rationale behind most arguments I see against impeachment... he or they will be gone in 2009. As for voting him in a second time, I didn't vote for him either time so I can only guess that many felt it was bad luck or bad policy to 'change horses in midstream (war)'. In government contracting, it's called 'throwing good money after bad'.
Hillary C... Rudy G... more of the same. I don't understand what's so hard to see about that. My 2 cents is up now.

I've said it before and I will say it again, the vast majority of Americans are happy with their life. The vast majority have jobs that provide new cars and big screen TVs, so why rock the boat?
The vast majority of people while they may not like what is going on are willing to wait and see what happens. The next election cycle will bring change. The USA has had over 200 years of transferring power peacefully. Unless you are promoting a revolution then you just have to be patient and wait.
Besides the corruption today is much less than it was in the past there are way too many people watching and way too many ways to get caught.

Incompetent voters don't mind if the government is incompetent, and sadly we have a lot of them. How else can you explain Bush's re-election?
Mark A, you put an unfair spin on your question when you said, "I defy you to find ANY civil liberties that have been denied to you while President Bush has been in office." The phrase "to you" limits it in a way that I think is extremely dangerous. Maybe you and I haven't been hauled off to Guantanamo Bay without formal charges and held without a trial, but the fact that it's happening to ANYONE is a violation of civil liberties promised by the Bill of Rights. You might say, "Oh, but they're terrorists", but how do you know that when they haven't been tried? It's just like the very famous "...and then they came for me" essay. If you don't speak up when they start infringing on others' civil liberties, then by the time they get to you there may be no one left to speak for you.

Ask the religious leaders - conservative Christians - ie, Ted Hagard, etc... - they helped putting the felony bunch there using the name of God and the parakeet churchgoers said AMEN!
The parakeet churchgoers happened to be some of the Americans you talked about! Until some of us are willing to take education seriously, walk the talk, be responsible/accountable for our actions, set examples of a leader, not a follower, in many ways: personally, professionally, intellectually, morally, technologically, economically etc.. - (and not necessarily be a President or high position in society ). Society overall will not tolerate incompetency by mere peer pressure. I remember this current President did not even care about geography during one of his debates - let alone being competent in his job! Go figure...
"In the land of the blinds, the one-eyed man became king!" So it was written in the history!

When the American people stop being Pussy's and start standing up for what is right! If all the American people (which is the vast majority) would stand up and fight against the government and for what they believe something would change we did it in the 70's and they were all STONED and they made a difference! I am sick of politics and how the Government is run but what the hell can I do by myself! Americans need to concentrate more on helping their neighbor and treating people equaly instead of just bi.tching all the time. If I got a flat tire do you think someone would stop to help me?! HELL NO!! the only people that would stop are the ones that would rob me blind! that is what americans need to work on their bi.tching skills are just fine!

Americans are too deep in debt, are busy pooping out children even though there are only 7 billion people on the planet and care more about Paris Hilton than a bunch of charred Iraqi bodies.

The government of the US is like a computer. Garbage in...garbage out.
You have the power to remove people by the ballot. You fail to do so. You fail, not the government.
The government of the US IS us. Whether we want to admit it or not. Start voting in people with known honor, integrity and fidelity. But you won't. You continue to let your voice (and subsequently their voices) be drowned out by the party machines and the television.
It's not the fault of the government. It's our fault. If we don't fix it, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Lighten up Francis.
The Republic has stood for over 200 years. While I don't agree with everything that our President has done, we are far safer and I defy you to find ANY civil liberties that have been denied to you while President Bush has been in office.
Go ahead.
I'll wait.
nothin huh?
Thought so.
