Why do you want to write such a note/ Were you asked to do it?

It is, however, a good question and if you are indeed asked to write such a note or are preparing for an interview you should know what to write or say.

It it difficult to make specific suggestions since you gave no information about the job or your your work experience.

I can nevertheless make some general suggestions for you.

Find out everything that you can about his company. How long has it been in business? Is it a chain or privately owned? What products does it sell? Which products are loosing money. What salary can you expect to receive. What benefits? Is their high employees turnover?

You will think of others for the specific company involved.

If you are submitting a resume , then a cover letter is where you can introduce yourself and do a bit of self promotion.

something like:

I believe my skills and experiance make me a suitable candidate and my many years in the field makes me an excellent prospect.

You dont want to insult other applicants beacause there may be applicants with better qualifications than you have applying.

Write a more formal cover letter instead and include a resume if you have one.
It should start off like this:

Thank you for considering my qualifications for your job opening. I believe my resume shows that my skills and training, as well as my past employment experience will fit your requirements......etc.

yes, resume and cover letter, a good cover letter.
but dont use ALL your good points, save some for the interview, they will ask you questions about things you have done and how you overcame things, you dont want to reiterate, so, save some.

I would start with: "I am your ideal candidate because..."
"I would be great in this position because...." "I would love to join your company because..." "I would be a great addition to your team because..."
