They believe in a reward after death. Personally, I think it is causing them to waste this life, preparing for the next.

I think that Christians believe there is someone who
1) made the universe
2) is constantly looking out for them
3) will reward them with heaven if they have led a good life
4) lead them past sin

In reality,
1) big bang
2) stuff still happens
3) you die
4) it's up to you to define what a good life is.

People still get hurt, people still have tragedy and then they claim "it must be Gods will, or he has a reason"
If you get out of that tragedy "see, god was looking out for you"

If you get in trouble "god must want you to learn a lesson", if you get out of the trouble "god led you to salvation"

blah, blah, blah.
In reality, the virgin mary would be the world's first rape victim.

Since if you had actual proof of a god's existance, it wouldn't be an issue. The fact that there is such a huge portion of the population that don't believe in the christian god, would tell anyone that in 2000 years, there hasn't been sufficient proof.

How long are you going to wait to give up on a pipe dream.

The Church also believed the notion that the world was flat, they hardly have a consistent history of being right in the end.

Man I really like Nondescript's answer, but I also would say they believe too much in a "savior" that will come and take them away to a fantasy place "heaven" where all will be good, and great, when this "savior" is nothing but a ancient creation of imagination. Virtually every religions "savior" or deity is a creation from the astrological zodiac.

They are not having sex while they are young and most able to. They are also not using protection which screws up their lives when a baby comes along. They are also not living it up in this life because they believe there will be another one in the next life. They are wasting Sunday worshipping so someone can make money and a profit from them.

They believe that they somehow magically come back to life after they die. This seems to be the all important aspect of the religion. Apparently they are paralized at the thought of death being final.

Christians believe their religion is the only way to an eternity without suffering.

The same that people who believe in any religion believe...
That their religion will give meaning to their insignificant lives.

That they will be saved from eternal suffering because Jesus sacrificed himself for them
That God exists.

Christians are a part of a sacrificial religion.

I think christians believe their religion is important because to them its correct, its the right one.

Don't we all, though? If I didn't believe atheism was right, I wouldn't count myself as an atheist.

Which ones? There are a lot of different brands of Christianity filled with lots of different folks.

If I could hone it down to Christian fundamentalists I'd say: eternal life along with all the things they think they need to do to attain it (preaching the word, judging others, adhering to various dogmatic rituals, etc.).

I find that many seem to almost waste this time on earth (which is guaranteed) for the promise of something completely intangible, and more than likely untrue.
