I consider myself a lapse Catholic but refuse to give up my religion based on that I think most of the morals I have are because of my faith but can't help but be terribly dissapointed when I hear about how the vadican spends money on non-humanitian issues and the molestation cases. Will the church rise above this.

please let me know what you think.

I think the Catholic faith is heading more firmly into Truth. This will cause some people to leave Catholicism (those who cannot accept truth), but it will also bring many more people into Catholicism. My hope and prayer is that the entire Christian Church (baptist, methodist, catholic, whatever) will be unified, because if that would happen, it would really change the world for good. It's the in-fighting that makes people think they can't find God in Christianity.

The Vatican spends TONS of money on humanitarian issues, and actually has more missionary organizations operating in the world than any other church. Catholic Relief Services is a good example -- they provide emergency relief when needed (food, clothing, money, buildings), but they also participate in on-going efforts to help people oppressed by economics, politics, racism, etc. In Senegal right now, they are helping poor villages create their own self-sustaining micro-economies...much better than a hand-out, because the people are making their lives (and their children's lives) better in the long run.

As far as the molestation cases, where Catholic clergy is involved, it is appropriate for the Catholic Church to assist victims monetarily so that the victims can get whatever psychological help they need to recover from the crimes committed against them. It is a devastating and horrendous shame that there are so many settlements to be made, but the Church *is* being humanitarian by helping these people out. And yes, I believe the Church will rise above it in time.

What the Catholic Church is going through since the Vatican ll 'reforms' is probably the worst assault of hell against the Catholic Church in centuries. It looks like everything is lost and we are going downhill, but keep your faith up. Our Lord promised the survival of His Church against the most violent attacks of the devil.

The most decisive event in Church's history that ever happened and that is being swept under the rug today by even the Vatican, is the Fatima event of 1917 when Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. Among other requests (the daily Rosary, wearing of the Brown Scapular and practice of first five Saturdays devotion) Our Lady asked for the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart to be made by the Pope united with the Catholic Bishops of the world.

This request has not yet been complied with. Pope John Paul ll consecrated the 'world' to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but has not mentioned Russia. Why this reluctance to obey Our Lady? You will find all the answers in the book 'Devil's final battle' which I will give you in a link below and also a documentary made by a team of Fatima priests called 'Heaven's peace plan'.This team of priests led by Fr.Nicholas Gruner are trying to give the facts to the public about the Consecration of Russia and about the Third Secret. They are petitioning the Holy Father to quickly consecrate Russia to Our Mother's Immaculate Heart, before Russia becomes the instrument of chastisement for the whole world. If the consecration is not done Russia may be the harbinger of war and communist errors all over the world. If done in time Russia will be converted to the Catholic faith and bring about a new era of Catholicism to the world.

Why the crisis in the Church? You will find the answer in the third secrt which has not yet been revealed. Fr.Gruner and his team alongwith the public are petitioning the Pope to reveal the secret which could be an embarrassment to the Vatican since it involves Apostasy in the Church. The solution is there: a simple prayer of consecration , but when will it come? Will it be too late? The lay people must pray for the Consecration of Russia to be done soon and petition the Pope to do it.

I am so saddened by the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict!

Personally, I think if this pope gets his way, the mass will be back to Latin and that will put this institution back to the 1960's...Pre-Vatican 2. He is causing division between all manner of religions ....non-ecumenical! He is offending those that Pope John Paul had personally apologized too!

This pope may actually be the catalyst which ends the faith of Catholicism! He is trying to pay off the ill deeds that some have enacted upon children! He has talked about ex-communicating the American Catholic Churches!!

Where do I think it is headed? In America, one cannot know such a thing with this POPE. As for me? I believe that the American Catholics are going to lose a lot of faith in this institution!

Actually, I'm glad the Church *is* spending money on settling abuse cases. They could've just turned their back and refused to compensate the victims of abuse, but I think it is an indication of remorse and a desire to make amendsfor the crimes that were hushed up for as long as they were.

Don't worry about humanitarian efforts. The Catholic Church is still heavily involved in charitable works and organizations. We're still sending throngs of missionaries, both laypeople and avowed religious, into 3rd world countries and war zones to provide medical care, education, and humanitarian aid. You just don't hear about it on the news because that sort of thing doesn't bring in the high ratings. Your diocesan office might be able to give you exact figures on donations and such coming from your area if you call and inquire. The Church is very much alive. She will weather the storm of recent scandals and be stronger for it. She has endured for 2000 years. As long as there are faithful Christians who keep the Traditions of the early Church, she will continue to endure and stand as a force for humanitarian giving and preserve those same morals that you cherish.

I don't know what particular issues you have a problem with, but I would suggest something for you. Prayer.

I've been lapse in my prayer life and have struggled to understand why it is that I don't pray anymore when I know I should. I bring this up because I've recently learned what prayer is. It's communion with God.

We lapse from our faith because we don't spend time with Him anymore. We don't humibly commit ourselves to His praise and worship. We don't give ourselves to Him and ignore His peace and joy and love, and then we can't figure out why things just aren't the same anymore.

The Church isn't going anywhere. Christ Himself said the gates of hell will not prevail against it. So then, where are we with the Church?

I recently ordered a subscription to the Magnificant because I want to pray again. I want to be in communion with God. My hope is that by sharing this with you maybe it will be of help. We are brothers in Christ, afterall, and Jesus told us to love one another as He has loved us.

God bless, and take care.

To start let me say "I am a Muslim"

I see that the Catholic faith is moving towards things that Jesus had forbidden.
Please let me know if I am wrong,
Christians are against Idol Worship.
Though I see the Idols of Jesus (where the controversy of his color has started.)
Idols/Statues of Saints are placed on the exterior walls of the Vatican. I saw recently on TV the people visiting Vatican, reaching out and touching these idols/statues.

This is how the pagans had started worshiping idols and calling them Gods, the idols were of pious people and over time their stories died only their idols remained.

This is what Islam warns against. I am not sure if you have any knowledge of Islam.
Islam says Jesus was a prophet, he had virgin birth, he was created by God similar to Adam. God gave Jesus the power to create Miracles, and sent him the Bible to guide mankind. And Jesus will return to destroy Anti-Christ.

May Allah Bless you and show you the right path.
