I believe that illegals couldn't care less about our laws therefore having stricter laws really wouldn't make a difference.

Yes it would. Its that simple. We have tried to, but the democrats wont allow it and the UN has a fit every time we do that. Apparently everyone should be allowed into the US because its "mean" to build a fence on a border. One simple law stating that illegal immigrants will be arrested would solve the whole problem, and we wouldnt even have to end up arresting anyone. The whole freakin world is full of US haters, only because we have figured out how to run a country the right way and have prospered because of it. So it is the UN and the democrats who do not feel that stricter immigration laws will help stop illegal immigration, even though it is a no-brainer.

The United States has the most lenient immigration laws on Earth. That's a fact.

Check again. Most of the countries that have stricter immigration laws STILL have serious immigration problems, or they have serious funding problems trying to enforce those laws. So no. It would not help solve the illegal immigration issue at all. It would just make it more expensive and time-consuming, and we'd STILL have illegal immigrants.

Yeah, I agree, or at least if they would ENFORCE the laws that there are, it would help a lot.
It actually really made me quite angry because I was trying to go to another country to stay for a year -- only a year, I wasn't trying to actually immigrate and stay there forever. Well, their rules were so strict and difficult, that I couldn't qualify in time to take the job that I was offered. If only it were that difficult to get into the US, that would be good...
Or at the very least, quit giving all the illegal people welfare and give it to the actual citizens who need it!

America has really strict immigration laws, they just can't afford to enforce them all the time. If you go through proper channels, then it takes years and several screenings to get anything done. But illegal immigrants obviously don't go through the proper channels.

Because the U.S. puts pressure on those countries. IF the country don't do it, then negociation (like trades) between them stop. In order for other countries to continue doing business with the United States, they have to prove that they are United States friend!

We have immigration laws but our govt is failing to enforce them. Mexico enforces their immigration laws more than we do! Our elected officials are ruled by the big business owners and special interest groups that support them. Unbelievable, isn't it?

Because we are the land of opportunity.....the Statue of Liberty is suppose to stand for Freedom for all.... give us your tired, your poor, your hungry. Well we get them all and we pay for a lot of them too. The more immigrants we get, the more 'new' Americans we have once they 'become' Americans. And there you have more votes for the politicians. We will take anyone from anywhere and it doesn't matter if they are murderer's, rapists, pedophiles, or thieves....... our laws and government suck when it comes to immigration laws. I say close down all boarders.... if you weren't born here.... go back where you came from and speak your language there, and fly your flags proudly. Enough is enough already!!!!!!!

We should actually enforce the laws we have. Toughening them would help tremendously, so would eliminating "perks" of being here illegally.
Other nations aren't criticized for the toughness of their laws.
That is pure hypocrisy as some of those nations are actively critical of efforts in the US to enforce our laws, and rush to defend any of their citizens illegally here.
