its a medium side with a biiiiiig window, im painting it next week (white) because im turning 16 soon, and new school year, i really f*cked around the last few years at school, so im going to clear everything out and paint it white. i have a creamy/ beige carpet, and white curtains with little desgins, and a single bed. the ceiling is quite high, so without anything on the walls, it looks quite empty, how can i make it last me a few more years, a look nicer, and more sort of grown up? thank youu!

add acessories, lamps, mirrors, shadow boxes, pictures, art, modern (or whatever style your into) furniture,cd rack, dvd case, anything that tells about you. You could have blown up images of your favorite items that are very simply but fun and still age appropiate. I would definitely change out teh curtains add something thats bold or colors that you perfer. Tha nI would place a fun carpet that doesn't have to be colorful but fun in shapes and desgin. This will draw your eye but not overdo the room. If you liked you could hang drapes form the ceiling, not many but just a couple to higlight the ceiling, or hang a chandeliar to give style to the room. I would keep the furniture to a minimum to give a professional look but not to old. Theres some items called 'wall pops" that you just peel on and off and it doesn't hurt your paint, they come in all colors, designs, shapes, and their a little pricey but they come in handy when giving a boring room color or style. They sell them at lowes if your interested. Make sure all clothes and clutter is put away to make the room seem relaxed and not disorganized, this will be a help when parents start nagging. Other elements are up to you, it all dpends on your style, pbteen has a good selection of furntiure, bedding and accesories. Other cheaper stores and sites include walmart, kmart, target, bed bath and beyond, linens and things, ebay, amazon, shopzilla, and many more.
hope your room turns out great :]

Much like the other answers, make the room about you. As if a new friend walked in and would be able to tell what you are about; your dreams, your passions, your past. Get a dressing table with a mirror and matching stool and find a classy (or your own style) jewelery box and make up organizer. I got one at K-mart, but have seen less $$ ones at antique stores and garage sales. As far as paint........sounds like white isn't you. Use paint that is you and semi-matches whatever else you decide on. Remember, anything you see that you like can be painted and handles can be replaced.
Oh, and Target has these things that hang from the celing over your bed and hang down from ceiling to floor.....may be too "girly" for u but it made me feel like I had more privacy.

Don't go with regular white; choose an antique-white or eggshell color which is more soothing and will accent your beige carpet.
Tasteful pictures with frames are more "grownup" than posters; perhaps images of animals that aren't TOO cutesy would be nice. Keep the clutter down to a minimum, especially around the mirror. Plants, too, are always good and fresh additions to a room.
Finding proper lighting is important. You can set aside one spot where you will do any reading with a brighter lamp, all other lighting can be indirect.
For how-tos and guidance, ask at Home Depots or those big box warehouse stores. The staff is often quite helpful and usually know their stuff.
Good luck!

Bedding color? Maybe repeat one of the bedding colors for
a reading chair. Use bedding print for curtains, and throw pillows.
Put desk, files cabinet or bookcase near each other to be convenient. File finished papers you might refer to later.
Keep a notebook or folder for each class, in a different bright color. Put all finished work in notebook as soon as done.
Get two lamps in a second bedding color, or a neutral, or chrome or brass - one for desk, and one for bedreading.
Frame all paintings, posters, photos in same color/material -
oak/walnut, brass/chrome, colored enamel.
Put a mirror with same framing opposite the window.
Get at least one plant, even if it's silk.
Add candles, photos of family, friends, vacations; maybe a floral wreath or swag in 'your' colors.

Sounds like your room needs color. I would add one of those curtain thingys at the head of your bed to make it look cozier. And I might add some sort of tapestry to another wall...and some other framed prints to make it look more sophisticated.
