jewish laws of the old testament say to not mark your bodies.... since most Christians live by the new covenant in Christ's blood, we no longer live by those 'laws' .... i've seen many tattoos that bring Glory to God... i'm pretty sure that God is judging the motive of the heart and not taking us at 'skin level'

I don't know, I dont think this is a big issue. A tattoo does not make someone sinful. Listen, does putting makeup on "mar" the body? If you say no, then why? Aren't you implying that you are not beautiful enough with the body God gave you? If you say yes, then what about perfumes and oils and such, because those were put on Jesus the scriptures tell, so hence Jesus' body was defiled.
I don't think God would die on a cross and suffer, only to say, "Oh no a tattoo! I can't undo that! That is unforgivable!"
The only stipulation is that it should not depict some sinful image. Anything like a cross or praying hands or a "mom" tattoo or whatever I do not think are bad at all. But a tattoo of someone's head cut off or something is not so defensible.

Lor: It isn't a paradox [oxymoron] for a Christian to receive a tattoo on his or her body. Where you stray is taking laws from the the Old Covenant or "Contract" (Old Testament) of the Bible, and are carrying them forward into an entirely New Covenant or "Contract"of the Bible, which has replaced the Old or former one. God is concerned with the state of the heart (attitude) of an individual - not whether he or she can score "brownie points" by adhering to a code of "dos & don'ts". God is concerned and now, focuses on GRACE - not RACE !!! - More Jesus ... Less Religion !!!

The only biblical reference I recall about tattoos is in the law of moses. Christians today don't follow a lot of those rules.
I stand corrected if you can find a New Testament reference for it. Please email it if you do, I like to be informed.

Yes! All you have to do to show "reverence" to God is simply.......Believe, and obey HIS commands! Imagine if God once told the woman of early times that it wasn't necessary to adorn themselves with gold, and jewelery, and perfumes, how utterly rediculous it would be to have to prove to man that you're a Christian by a "tatoo." Wouldn't you think the best way to show man of your reverence for God would be simply to, BE AS CHRIST, and live a good , clean, life of loving your fellow man/woman in a benign way of course?

People do many things they are not supposed to, but that really hasn't stopped anyone. And, in my opinion, if having tat of a cross or praying hands makes you feel more spiritual, it's fine with me. It's just like wearing jewelry, except it doesn't come off.
