I read it and it more or less confirmed everything I knew about religions.

If you won't click on links, don't comment. Thanks.

I more or less agree with the author, it really no more goofy than any other organized religion. I suppose thats why I don't like any of them.

I have a nifty bit of info for you though, if you're interested. I read Isaac Asimov's Autobiography. In it he said that Scientology was the result of a one dollar bet between L. Ron Hubbard and Robert Heinlein. Hubbard bet he could make up a patently ridiculous religion out of whole cloth, and people would be stupid enough to follow it. Seems Hubbard won the bet.

I read the article, and it was pretty much stuff I already knew. The "Church" of Scientology jumps down your throat if you express anything but glowing praise about itself, it's tactics, it's leaders, etc. Many people feel it's just as odd as other "religions" go and thus don't feel they should label it a cult.

That's where I fall off the wagon. Scientology IS a cult, not because it can be stood next to Christianity or Hinduism or Wicca and not tower over them with weirdness, but because it is structured and behaves just as a cult.

Well I read it.... most of it anyway.
Seems like the guy already has a certain viewpoint about religions in general and is just using certain bits of Scientology's basis of operation as a church ( and he has no knowledge of the religion itself ) to elaborate or promote his point of view.
So it's no surprise that this has created a confirmation in you, since you obviously where already of the same or similar opinion about religions in general.

Anyway that"s my comment for what it's worth.
I am a Scientologist, by the way.

I had a read of the link, I listened to his earlier podcast as well a few weeks ago.

Nothing new here, he does a resonable job of mingling truth, opinion, a few lies as well as links to other attacks on Scientology and Religion.

It fairly easy to see his purpose is not to know or learn anything.

Here is a link to his podcast interview of a Scientologist.

I read it and have recently been reading up on Scientology again. I read about it in years past and even had a friend who lost his mind from some reprogramming. He was a brilliant chemist.
Scientology is not a religion.

I don't think there is any real difference between a cult and a religion. They both use emotional hooks and indoctrination to gain converts and discourage any real reason.
