Just mark that time off in advanced if you need to request off work, or start making travel plans. It's the day of the wedding, and you will be recieving a formal invitation later on down the road, it's just a head's up sort of deal and letting you know how to plan on dressing for the wedding, formal

Attire means clothing.
Formal meaning something appropriate for a wedding anniversary etc a suit for a man for example. Really smart clothing basically.
Enjoy the wedding!

It means you should wear a nice, fancy gown or dress. It doesn't have to be expensive though. I get all of my formal attire dresses from Macey's or JC Penney's. I recently went to my ex-step-daughter's friend's mom's wedding and my 6 week old daughter got a dress from JC Penney's and I got a dress from Macy's.

It means the wedding will require a tux for your date and a very nice dress for you. The save the date card is the tentative date of the wedding and the real invitation will come when they are sure the date will work out.

Formal is like dress slacks, dress shirt or maybe like a nice dress not saying you have to be in a tuxedo or a princess gown but something nice. Maybe try to find out if there is a color scheme for the event and match your attire to the scheme that always looks good.

It means that they are going to send you a formal wedding invite and that you'll need to dress in pretty much prom-wear (sorry, don't know how old you are) for the event. Usually they will clarify on the invitation if it's a black-tie or white-tie event.

It means you need a dress/gown and some panty hose and some nice shoes. You maybe able to get away with a pants outfit witha jacket/blazer but you'd would have to ask.

It matter when the affair is. A pants suit outfit would be ok for a formal lunch/afternoon affair but not for a formal evening/dinner affair.
