About 4.5 billion years old, as current geologic and cosmological theory suggests.
The Earth is clearly not merely 6,000 years old, absent some supernatural involvement for which there does not appear to be a need, reason or any evidence.

It all depend's. If you are looking for a cientifical answer, the answer is 4.5 billion years. Science base on evolution and the formation of the eart, and by calculating carbon composive material can "estimate" that 4.5 billion is the earth time.
Now if you are looking for a biblical answer the correct answer is 6000 years. Teologist and historias of the bible "know" according to the time frame of the biguining of the bible "B.C.", the birth of Jesus "A.C." and other events the have calculated 6000 years of live to this eart aprox.
So! depending on what context you are asking "both answers are correct" Now according to your knoleged and belives you choose one.
In my personal opinion I supoert 100% the 6000 years. If you study science (Like I do) you will have to know 2 things, you have to know the diferrance between FACT and HIPOTECIS. The worls live with a hipotecis of an evolution, SADLY we have taken the Hipotecis in a Fact. There are 2 scientifical FACTS that brake the evolution bealive and thats why it has never been proven or ever will.
FACT:#1 Life produce Life. There is nothig made out of nothing, a living thing reproduce a living thing
FACT :#2 Life produce equals.
A Bird will re-prouce a bird, A Cat will produce a cat, a Human Will produce a Human. This Fact (totally apart from evolution) tells us in the many years of scientifical experience that a cat will NOT produce a Bird, an aligatotr will not have a lion, and a reptile, bird or monky will reproduce to a Living, Thinking Human.
Acording to the bible the theory of an 4.5 billion eart is not real. If in 6000 years we have made it a mess, can you imagin a 4.5 billion year planet?
To anser on a personal level, I Know tha we live in a 6000 year planet.

Iam a christian, a baptist and live in the USA. I do not believe that the world is 6000 yrs old. NO one knows how old the planet is for sure...but it would be closer to 4.5 billion than 6000, thats for sure.

All empirical evidence suggests that the earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. This age was determined by retroactively dating the amount of Uranium 238 isotopes found in old rocks, which has an half life of 4.468 billion years.
