Anything that can be made with petroleum or wood from trees can be made with hemp in a more environmentally friendly way including oil, paint, paper, rope, canvas and many other useful things. The seed has the best nutritional value out of all known seeds containing 3 essential fatty acids. If it were legalized it would hurt the petroleum and lumber business severely by offering competition that doesn't hurt the environment or is the basis for starting wars. Humans have been using this plant of many uses for over 8,000 years. They say its because it is harmful but there are far more harmful things out there that will remain legal. The harmfulness of smoking it can be reduced or eliminated by eating or vaporizing it. Cannabis has never directly killed someone but you can die from too much caffeine, water or alcohol. What it comes down to is the profits of imo evil industry's that might be hurt by its legalization.

Because in the early 1900s, marijuana was the drug of choice of the black and Mexican workers in the U.S. So, the government made it illegal as a way to put blacks and Mexicans in jail, so they wouldn't rape the white women.

Later, Randolph Hearst funded a process developed by the DuPont company to make paper for his newspaper empire. This process was also used to make various products that could replace hemp as the main ingredient. So, Hearst financed a propaganda movie called Reefer Madness, where people turned into homicidal maniacs when they smoked marijuana. And, the general population bought it hook, line, and sinker.

These days, marijuana is still illegal because it is a nautral treatment for some of the conditions that the drug companies are making money hand-over-fist by providing prescription drugs for. So, unless the drug companies and the government can figure out a way to make all the money from marijuana sales in the US, it's going to remain illegal in this country.

And, since it's so easy to grow your own with good quality, don't look for marijuana to be legal in the US any time soon, maybe not even in our lifetimes.

It was made illegal under the Volstead act, along with alcohol. The government technically only repealed half the Volstead act to make alcohol legal again....and tried brainwashing the rest of America with crap like "Reefer Madness". Personally, I think the government makes too much money off it being black-marketed, so they don't want to legalize it.

because when alcohol was probitioned they found it didnt work

marijuana is still illegal because of propoganda, lies, corruption and racism

it has nothin to do with the government making money or because they dont kno how to tax, or because its dangerous or because it addictive.

its because marijuana is still in probitioned and they make lots of money on the war on drugs, and because no one can remember the time when it was legal, if you want the real reason why its illegal go to www.drugwarrant.com

they wanted to get rid of mexicans in the 20's and check the site to see the lies that follow

Marijuana is not legal because the gov't has not figured out a way to control the sale and distribution yet. Once they figure out the control process, how to tax it, and how much a person can legally have on them then it will be legal.

Because we live in a country with laws that don't make a lick of sense.

Even though it's been proven over and over again that booze is worse for you, hard on your liver, your brain, your pancreas, your bones, everything, they still legalize it and make pot illegal.

Totally ridiculous. But lots of rich, white people are alcoholics, and iflawmakers tried to make it illegal, they wouldn't contribute money.

Pot ought to be just as legal -- and just as taxed and regulated -- as booze.

PS I don't drink and don't do pot.

Marijuana's way 2 easy to grow, so it can't be taxed. Think about all the $$$ the gov't makes off of tobacco, and we all know how deadly that is.

If there were some way to control MJ's growth and tax it, they'd probably legalize it.

I don't know but have wondered that myself - very often. If ever anything made sense at all, it would be that they legalized marijuana and illegalized alchohol. How many people have you ever heard of that have been killed in a marijuana-related car accident. GEESH.

I don't think that alcohol would cause as much harm as marijuana.

Because cannabis is way to easy for just any one to grow, so the government could never really make a tax of it.
