You are obviously from the USA. It annoys me a lot when I see questions like yours, but I guess I am developing a thick skin towards ignorance now (LOL).

England only has 1 name. Great Britain is made up of Scotland, England & Wales (3 seperate countries). The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, adds, as the title suggests, Northern Ireland to the other 3.

If you came to Scotland & said "Gee, it's great to be in England" you'd probably get lynched (well, not really, but people would find you unbearably rude).

They are three separate entities

England is the largest country within Great Britain (Britain) and The United Kingdom.

Great Britain =
England (country, capital = London)
Wales (a country and principality, capital = Cardiff)
Scotland (country, capital = Edinburgh)

UK =
England
Wales
Scotland
Northern Ireland (a province known as Ulster, capital = Belfast)

Commonly known as The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The rest of Ireland which is known as Eire, capital = Dublin, has not been part of the United Kingdom since the 1920's

England is a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Americans just shorten it to England or Britain.

The United States of America is called the US, United States, America, USA, etc and yet it only has one proper name.
