Most can quote John 3:16, Genesis, or a few happy Jesus quotes...that's about it.

Do they know the bible is full of greed, horrors, violence, unusual sex, slave trading, etc....?

It's usually the atheist know-it-alls who say that, Christians are more humble

Nobody wants to hear about the bad. If people started to quote those then it would only be explaining that life was sinful then and it is now as well. The bible is a history record of events that happened and even to come (Revelation). The books were chosen to be put together despite all the sinful things in them because God always did something to change it. The flood and tower of babel are a couple of examples of sinful nature being punished.

are you american? Just curious, because you dont seem to know the Bible at all, and wiht your view of americans, one can only assume.
Many ppl in the US know the Bible quite well, as do ppl in countries all over the world. YOu cannot make such a blanket statement like that and not expected to be laughed at. I am not laughing, I am praying for you to see the truth while there is time. Yes the Bible talks about many bad things, greed, violence, werid sex, slavery, all of it, and then it tells why thats all bad and what it leads to and how to not be like that yourself. So the Bible is good, and agisnt all that horror. Maybe you should get a Bible and try reading it. Even if you are american, you can still get it if you want to.
God says that all that wont receive Him are fools. Thats about it. BUt there is still time if you hurry, God is eager to fogive.
I will pray you do that in time.

Of course.

Because the Bible is about real life, and greed, horrors, violence, unusual sex and slave trading all happen in real life.

Mere: The Bible is a record of human history without God. The Bible record supplies its adherents with the problem (we humans and our individual "human nature) - our proclivity towards sin, and the solution for our human "condition" called Christianity. The Bible is like a mirror, reflecting back to us our "true" selves - in the "raw".
Man was made to have a relationship with His Creator without this relationship we have war, self-centeredness, crime, hate, murder ... and the list goes on ! (Ever, wonder why this world is falling apart ?) Are YOU part of the problem of sin OR the solution, God ... Which ???

Yeah, the greater majority (2x?) don't take the time 2 actually read the Bible, so they quote what they know or perpetuate hearsay.
It's all a part of being pious hypocrites, just like the kind Jesus denounced.

Go home and read your Bible, and try not to take too many things out of Context and figure out WHY those stories are part of Bible History.

Many know much about the bible. The sins in the bible are there to illustrate what happens when you sin and how much better life can be if you choose not to sin and follow God.

The same could be asked about the British and food, or Germans and hospitality.

Besides, most people here only have the attention span to get their bible quotes from bumper stickers.
