By far true. Proven time and time again. Our will, resources, strategic insight, and overwhelming advancement in technology cannot even remotely be matched.

I'm assuming, of course, he means most powerful to date, otherwise comparing similarities to armies a thousand years ago obviously wouldn't be possible.

Right now, in this era, I'd say the US military is overall the best. There is no basis of comparison with ancient cultures, though. Except, perhaps, effectiveness in battle. That is largely dependent on the tactics the commanders are willing to use. For instance, If it was the Nazis, or the Soviets who were in Iraq right now, the insurgency would be largely crushed because they would have levelled and depopulated entire regions to root them out. The Romans would have just killed all the men and sold all the women and children into slavery. These regimes were brutal, but very effective. The US military is extremely effective within the limitations it sets on itself. The US military would never depopulate regions or sell people into slavery. Purely in terms of military power, this limits our effectiveness (as compared to the regimes I mentioned above). Having said that, I'll say this: given the limitations we place on ourselves, I'd say the US military is the most effective in history. I don't think the Nazis, Soviets, or Romans could accomplish what the US military does if they operated with the same limitations.

Camparative to others in the same time period, only Rome could compare with the gap we enjoy today.

Please note even the best are vulnerable to barbarians.

I am sick of people claiming Israel has something on us. They train at Red Flag and Fort Irwin and have never cleaned up when faced with agressor units. Good -sure, Better-No way and a lot smaller.

Russia, collapsing
China, Manpower strong but firepower and tech deprived
Great Britain, Tecnically savvy but a role player
Germany, Technically savvy role player-constitutionally limited
Japan, totally limited by constitution
France, nuclear and crazy, probably should be feared

The rest are just human wave assaults waiting to be decimated.

properly, D, is fake. Queen Lili'uokalani replaced into forced to provide up her thrown. She gave up her thrown so as that there does no longer be any bloodshed. i do no longer comprehend if I comprehend the question properly, to me it feels like she did so willingly, yet she never needed the united states to come back in and take over.

It defines what you mean by best............. Hands down the largest and most technologicalyy sophisticated.......

But when it comes to honor, integrity of purpose (not the soldiers themselves, but the architects of war in the United States, the civilian leadership), moral values in the sense of only going to war when atacked and in self-defense, we are lacking.

I think we could find these characteristics more prevalent in other armies, historically. For instance, the samurai class in ancient Japan.....

In terms of pure militaristic valor, one should not overlook the Greeks.... Give the greeks the weapons of today, and I think we arrive at an order of magnitude "better" military.......

But the key here is the righteousness in the cause of warring, for which the historical record of the United States military is ranked dismally.................. with the exception of perhaps WWII, but even that war served other interests, primarily financial and hegemonic, which were less than moral.....

Considering that as of right now, yes the US does have the best military in the world, but as far as history is concerned, we've only been around for less than 300 years, and if you look at all the other military powers beyond our scope of history; the answer is no.

Best military power in history? Either the Romans or the Mongolians. But this question is too open-ended.....but those two are my pick.

True.

Sadly, the vast majority are combat hardened as well, so while people fawn over Israeli military prowess, they got their a$$ handed to them.

Bet you that China and Russia are watching very closely.

"Best" is a subjective term. Best for what? Well, for guarding Bolivia, the Bolivian Army is "best".

We do have, however, the most effective and powerful military.
