Steak isn't the best food for a cat but you just gave in and gave him a treat.
Don't beat up on yourself. You gave in to his form of begging -- demanding. But don't give him human food snacks or treats in the future. You might go buy some cat treats he never gets any other time, and give him one when you have your delicious-smelling meals.
Indulging our pets, in moderation, is a harmless pleasure for us and the pets, both.

Its okay... but you shouldn't make it a habit. Your cat will learn that when she begs she will get what she wants. It might be better if you tried putting her in a different room so that she won't see you eating. He might be mad but you shouldn't give in to much. It makes them know that you are still in charge. When i first got a cat I asked the vet if it was okay to feed her human food. The vet said no. He said that the cat food that we feed her is enough and that its better if she doesn't eat human food... But I think that once in a while is okay as long as you don't give her too much.

Very bad...once you start feeding animals scraps you are in a world of trouble. They will always beg once they get a taste and they may even refuse to eat their normal food. Put your cat in another room while you eat to reduce temptation.

unfortunetly yes. its bad to start feeding an already over-weight cat scraps b/c then he will be expecting them from now on. try not to give him anymore people food, and maybe put him on a little diet. you can give him a treat maybe once a week tho, so you can consider that his treat 4 the week.

there are much worse things you could have given him. if we are eating something that is just plain meat, like hamburger, unseasond chicken etc. we will usually give a little bit to our cats.
