I'm not sure what you mean by what can you do during the reception. Since it is such a small wedding, you can be a bit more casual if you want but if not then you can follow the norm....making the toasts, cutting the cake, the garter and the bouquet throw, first dance. Set up the tables with centerpieces and put together nice favors for the guests. If you can be more specific in your details, maybe I could give you more help.

A 10 person reception is just small gathering, you can have a nice garden reception or have it in a restaurant. To make it special and intimate make/buy favors that suit each guest individually. Have a cake and take plenty of pictures. For music hire a guitarist to play just for your party.

Ummm, yeah, you really don't need to have a formal reception for only ten guests. Have lunch, brunch or dinner (depending on what time of day you get married) at a nice restaurant (make sure you make a reservation ahead of time). It's that simple.

10 people is just a dinner party. You don't say what you mean by "Items". You need to have the food, drinks, wedding cake ordered. Is it in a private room? How long is it for? You really give no details.
