i heard from my relatives and friends that once you eat a marshmallow, it stays in your stomach for the rest of your lives OR it stays there for 3 years and you could NEVER lose the weight/fat that your body took in cause of the marshmallows ... is that true? well honestly i believed it at first but i don't know ... does anyone else have opinions about this theory ??

Does sugar and egg white stay with you for ever? of coarse not. The stomach enzymes break down to the base matter of sugar and egg and is digested as if it were the same ingredients.

NO this is most definitely not true. Just like the old wive's tale about chewing gum staying in your stomach forever, marshmallows WILL digest and pass through. Just like all the other food you eat. Actually meat is the food that takes the longest to break down.

Considering that a marshmallow is mainly digestible ingredients... then your body will digest and get rid of it like any other food.

Maybe your family was making a metaphor... the calories from the marshmallow will stay with you, not the actual chunk of marshmallow.

I think that's an old wive's tale... like the one about accidentally swollowing chewing gum makes your intestines stick together... or swollowing seeds makes plant grow out of your ears...

marshmallow used to be made from the sap of the marsh mallow plant, these days it's made from gelatine, sugar & water.

Gullible, aren't you. With the amount of Marshmallows I've eaten ... wow.

That is the dumbest theory I've ever heard in my life. Your friends and family must regard you as truly gullible and told you that just to mess with your mind.
