Why do people keep talking about this? I've read the novel Misery by Stephen King, and haven't found one mention of atheism or atheists. In addition, why is someone trying to talk to characters from a Stephen King novel? Should we get that person some help?

Apparently religion is a prerequisite for happiness. Funny, my dog seems pretty happy all the time. I see a lot of happy babies too.

I'm happy with being a secular humanist. Maybe the atheists in misery should become secular humanists. Start stressing the positive.

I, in all actuality do not think this person is talking about Stephen Kings book at the very least,what i think they are saying is what does an atheist have as a comfort in these hard times.If one does not have faith in a higher power,then i would guess they don't feel that deep joy of knowing the Lord.

It's not about a book. It's just a catch-phrase used to imply atheists are in misery. Funny, it's religious types that are so worried about somebody watching and judging and going to hell, and themselves watching and judging and maybe going to hell.

I don't recall there being anyone who was Atheist in that book...or the movie.
devil_from_nj, that's a very good comparison where you refer to us Christians as His sheep, since the Lord is our Shepherd. I don't know any blind Christians, but we do have a couple members at our church who are deaf. (And I forgive you for the rude name-calling. I know you can't really help it.)
