I have never been able to open a torrent file in my life. I can download them OK, but when I try to open them with a torrent-converter program, it never works.
Does anyone have a link to a torrent-converter I can download for free?

Well, in order to open a torrent file, you would need a torrent client. There are many torrent clients out there. Perhaps the two most popular are

utorrent:
http://www.utorrent.com/

and Azureus
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

The browser Opera is not only a great broswer for your PC and mobile phone, but it has a built in torrent client. After you have downloaded the browser from www.opera.com, simply click on a torrent from one of the popular sites: www.btmon.com, www. torrentspy.com, www.bittorrent.com, and the browser will bring up a tab called "Transfers" this is a torrent client, so there is no need to download the torrent client that the site tells you to download. Opera's transfers tab watches all of your internet downloads, not just torrents. I love Opera and swear by it. It is a great browser and has a wonderful user community.
