Paganism is more that "burning candles and reading those little tarot cards". How on earth can some people say "I don't know much about it other than it's bad.." You're not proving your intelligence much with those statements - at least with Paganism. And what does "it's the work of the devil" really mean? I haven't a clue, I'm Pagan - not Christian. You have to be Christian to understand what the devil is.

You do realize that paganism refers to any religion other than the Abrahamic ones, right?
So, Hinduism, Buddhism, Universalism, and all the deists, pantheists, polytheists, etc are the devil?
Good luck with that. That's well over 1/2 the population of the earth that you've just judged and maligned.
And I'm a Pagan with no connection to your Gods, only Christians worship Satan. I'm non-theistic and happy that way.
You do realize that Christianity is just watered down paganism, right? It's in your roots, the Zoroastrian past as well as all the paegantry associated with the efforts of the church to convert the peasantry. All the good stuff, Christmas, Easter, the Trinity, it's all borrowed and plagerised.

I've heard every theory about modern paganism, a common theory I've heard it that it was a plot by the devil to lead people astray, and that the devil created a religion similar to Christianity with similar myths and holidays to confuse all of us poor pagans.
Unfortunately most of us don't believe in a devil and I highly doubt that my pagan groups community service & fund raising for charities has been in the devils name.
This is what I don't understand, we try to live in peace with every group and ethnicity and contribute to our communities, how on earth is this the devils work?

As a pagan priestess I am so hurt when people feel we worship the devil. In truth we don't even believe in the devil. We believe, to simplify, in the great universal spirit, the creator of all. The masculine and femminine of God/goddess. We look down on no other religion. We respect each other and the earth and we do no harm. We are healers and peaceful people. We are not ignorant people either. We are well learned in history and spirituality. We enjoy dialogue. We cast no stones. Dr. LadyB

It can't be the work of the devil because pagans don't believe in the devil. Paganism is a way to get closer to divinity, no middle-man like priests who are apparently are "speaking" for God.

Paganism is an ancient religion, still in practice today by more and more people (in the hundreds of thousands). You can't ignore it. Your neighbor might be practicing it right now. Is it the work of the devil? No. The devil doesn't even exist in Paganism. It's close minded people like you who perpetuate the negative (and false) stereotypes about alternative religions.

pagan was a world used by christianity so they could condemn people... a word that had "automatic" evil attached to it... one could say it has and automatic prejudice about it.... it also serves to lump together the diverse types of spiritually sensitive people that once populated the earth... Pagan is also a term used "spiritually" because of the prejudice associated with it to slow down nature's healing process.... Im not crazy about the word... but the new beginning and the return of the spiritual people of the earth will come from Paganism....
You think it's the work of the devil because that's what the catholic and christian religions tell you to think... the catholic and christian religions are the ones from the devil... but not even they are supose to know that.

I think Paganism is cool. They believe in the Lord and the Lady or in other words a God and a Godess. They have certain hollidays celebrating the changing of the seasons. Coming from the times in ancient Europe when everybody was farmers.

Paganism is deeply entrenched in our society, for it has existed so much longer than Christianity. I definitely don't feel that it is the work of the devil, for Satan is a Christian concept, not a pagan one.

as a christian you are entitled to believe that whatever you feel is bad is the work of your devil. just remember that your devil is the christian devil and the pagans do not believe in the christian gods. we have our own gods. so amongst yourselves you can say "its the work of the devil", but to us please don't. besides being annoying, it makes you seem foolish and ignorant. it is a rare occasion when a pagan belittles christianity. but a common one when a christian mocks another religion. believe what you like but keep your judgments to yourselves. let the rest of us have our peace.
