This happens quite often...just keep it clean as possible because i am assuming that she stays in a cage which she also uses the bathroom in, so clean it 3 times a day with peroxide, and put neosporin on it, and if possible cover it with a bandage. Smart move getting rid of the wheel

Sit the trap in a (shallow) bowl of warm water and try to lightly get the foot off. Don't tug, just try to ease it off. EDIT: I searched in google and I found an answer someone had previously given about a similar problem: This will only work if most of their bodies are not stuck to the trap and still might cause injury. Pour a little corn oil on the trap and the underbelly of the mouse or rat. Slide a piece of newspaper under the belly of the rat (IMPORTANT) to keep the rat from sticking further. Then take tongs and delicately try to lift them up not pinching their belly with the tongs but closing the tongs under their belly and them in the GAP of the tongs. Gently pull up. It is possible if you move very slow that the goo will release from the feet. As soon as a foot is loose you slide another piece of paper under it. Make sure one is under the head and tail! Keep sticking paper to the trap under the animal until it is free. I don't know how to get the goo off but at least they will be free.

Good thing she got rid of the wheel! lol! As long as it is not bleeding badly. Also if it has a good appetite and is walking fine I think it should be okay! Pretty smart hamster!

These accidents sometimes happen! Its horrible but they seem to adjust quite well.
Your sister needs to keep the wound clean (bathe the wound with warm salty water twice a day). Keep and eye on it, if it becomes red, swollen or hot get the hamster to a vet as soon as she can.
Good luck, I hope little hammy will be OK.

Holy..
No, she will not be ok! Accidents happen, always use a solid wheel. But she needs to see a vet. Yes she'll manage ok without the foot, but she needs painkillers and anti-biotics, and it to be washed and dressed, else there's an EXTREMELY high risk of infection. Hamsters are very prone to infections through cuts.
So please, please take the poor hammie to the vet. If she/you don't, then she will be taking bad care of it!
Hope to christ you take this advice.

http://www.transoniq.com/ I suggest you buy this for your sis and her hammies. It's a safe way for your small animals to run around in a wheel for excersize. You'll never have to worry about hammy getting his feets stuck again. Also good for animals with tails or other sensitive limbs.

well i would take it to the vet and get a new and safter place for it to be in with no same corners that it can get stuck in or something. my friends guniea pig got stuck in a tube and sufficated so it could have been alot worse. make sure it doesn't get in affection too.

It's a natural survival instinct with many animals. Take it to the vet to make sure it's okay and make sure there aren't any other hazards in its room

my best bet is to take it to the vet so it doesn't lose too much blood.......otherwise if no blood is being lost i think u should take it to the vet so they can have a look-see. or maybe u should leave it until his behavior changes or his appitite is not going good.
