I have been crying constantly, attempted not eating for a week, thought of suicide, I have no desire to go out anymore and when I do I usually end up coming home before I really do anything with my friends, I dont feel like myself anymore .. when I'm around people I hardly talk at all and I used to be a very loud and talkative person. When my friends ask me whats wrong when I'm upset I refuse to talk about it .. but I used to always confide in my friends. Help? Are these signs of depression or am I too ahead of myself?

Yes, you sound seriously depressed. If the symptoms are as you say, you need help immediately. Thinking of suicide is no small matter. It is one thing to think of yourself as better off dead. Thinking this way in combination with the other symptoms you mention spells a big problem. You have classic symptoms of depression. The reason why you feel this way is not so important as the fact that you do. I would recommend you see a mental health practitioner asap. Please know that many people feel the way you do. Do not fault yourself for this. There is help available. There are various levels of depression. Isolating yourself, withdrawing from other people is definitely not good. You are more than just a little depressed. Isolation and thoughts of wanting to hurt yourself is a bad combination. Please get help asap. You do not want to reach the point where you are so depressed you cannot move at all. Move while you can and get help, please.

As yourself a few simple questions. What is it that is making you cry constantly. if you arrive at a general conclusion like you have become sensitive to what ever is happening around you, but cannot pin point the reason, then is is possible that you are just being cranky and nothing is really wrong with you. You are forcing yourself to get depressed which sometimes gives young persons a perverse sense of satisfaction. I hope it is just this that you are facing.

However, if you can arrive at what exactly is 'bugging your soul', again ask yourself how serious the matter is. Is it something you are incapable of dealing with alone? Is it something you cannot share with your family or friends? Is it something that needs urgent counseling. If the answer to any of the above is 'yes', then you may be depressed with the circumstances you are in or you have been facing. Be sure as to what is causing your change in behaviour. There is nothing that cannot be resolved with patient thinking and introspection. There is no need for any human being to 'attempt' taking ones own life by not eating or committing suicide! There are so many people in this world who are so poorly off, you cannot imagine their plight. You may not be aware of it, but in their plight and suffering, they smile and get their strength from their inner self.

So, dear person, stop whatever you are thinking and just be your normal self NOW! Or take measures to improve the situation by speaking to somebody who can help you resolve the difficulty you are facing. Good luck and keep smiling!

you can do a search for SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION on line..

you can also do a search for DEPRESSION SELF HELP, and you will find many resources.

it seems to me that you're experiencing some very dramatic issues, and it wouldn't hurt to consult your doctor. he might refer you to someone for further assistance, or perhaps he can help you himself.

take care of YOU... ok? hugs
