Booked to travel with Virgin on the 01.09.08 with 43 people attending our wedding in Jamaica.

2months later Virgin change the date of departure so we are told to fly on 02.09.08 instead. As the guest are a majority of family member, we all could travel on the 02.09.08 due to the day we returned (personal family rememberance day), so we had no choice but travelling the week before..

As we choose to change the week before, it was an extra £60.34 per person

I have done the 1st steps of contacting the travel agent to speak to Virgin, of which i got this reply from my travel agent:
I have spoken to virgin for you regarding the date change and they have advised because the option to go a day later for the same cost was available they are unable to discount the August dates, if all the other date options were more expensive then they would of looked at it but as there were dates for the same price then they have said no, it was worth a try though!

Any tips, sites or advice?!

Citizen's Advice Bureau will be able to give you some free advice and refer you to a solicitor for free consultation if required.

Go to the top. Don't faff around with subordinates. If I were you, I would write to Richard Branson himself. He seems a nice bloke. After all, your travel arrangements were for a wedding - a one-off event - not just some annual holiday. It was a really special occasion for you and his company messed it up and you are very hurt. Any normal person would understand the situation. Try talking to him direct and tell him how you feel about it and ask him what can be done to restore your goodwill. He's a sensible businessman so he might well be kind to you. Lesser mortals in the Virgin heirarchy would have their hands tied and you'd just go round in circles. Good luck

If, as you state, it was Virgin who changed the date of departure, then it's their fault, and they should refund your money (£60.34) at the very least.

I think it reeks of sharp practice. I wonder if they'd have changed the date if it meant that they owed you?

You might be best off writing to a consumer programme, such as You And Yours on Radio 4. Any negative publicity might make Virgin a little more compliant.

I wrote a letter of complaint to British Airways over a matter, and writing to their customer service centre did not to much. But then I wrote to their executive, Mr Willie Walsh, and I got the response I wanted. I suggest you do the same- Richard Branson. Hope this helps.

Get your money back from virgin and use another airline. With the amount of people going have you looked into private charter if they have a minimum number before you can charter you can sell extra seats to others to cover costs.
