The big question is: How did life originate? Simple answer = humans are really really smart and powerful, so a really really REALLY intelligent and powerful being, that was at the very least similar to humans, did it. As far as theists are concerned there are no scientific explanations. There is; but the liklihood of its occuring is so improbable that they hesitiate to mention much. RNA (or Ribonucleicacid) is basically a complex combination of various acids, which are capable of reproducing through using materials n their enviroment to do so, and their method of reproducing is also prone to error. Both these facts mean that RNA is eligible for Darwins evolution through natural selection. The existence of RNA would lead to DNA and eventually life itself. The problem is that the chances of RNA being produced by chance alone in the first place is on par with someone tipping out a wheelbarrow full of bricks only to have them stack neatly on top of eachother, hence makng the construction..

...of a wall, a lot easier. Now, given enough time, say: a couple of billion years; could this have occured by chance alone?

My point is; that the origin of life CAN be explained scientifically, it's just not widely accepted yet. It is however more valid than the reliogious assertion that God did it.

No one is sure about the universe expanding; there is evidence, but it is not a scientific fact.

Anyway, the Universe may have come about because it had too. Isn't non-existence just a concept created by humans?

Steve N, nobody actually knows how big the universe is, nobody can even hazard a guess. It was once suggested that it was 6 billion times bigger than our galaxy, then it was discovered to be bigger.

James H, philosophical dualism is a theory. Nothing more. The fact that you believe yourself more deserving of a soul than other species on Earth suggests the presence of a superiority complex.
