The big question is: How did life originate? Simple answer = humans are really really smart and powerful, so a really really REALLY intelligent and powerful being, that was at the very least similar to humans, did it. As far as theists are concerned there are no scientific explanations. There is; but the liklihood of its occuring is so improbable that they hesitiate to mention much. RNA (or Ribonucleicacid) is basically a complex combination of various acids, which are capable of reproducing through using materials n their enviroment to do so, and their method of reproducing is also prone to error. Both these facts mean that RNA is eligible for Darwins evolution through natural selection. The existence of RNA would lead to DNA and eventually life itself. The problem is that the chances of RNA being produced by chance alone in the first place is on par with someone tipping out a wheelbarrow full of bricks only to have them stack neatly on top of eachother, hence makng the construction..

...of a wall, a lot easier. Now, given enough time, say: a couple of billion years; could this have occured by chance alone?

My point is; that the origin of life CAN be explained scientifically, it's just not widely accepted yet. It is however more valid than the reliogious assertion that God did it.

Furthermore; where did the universe come from?

No one is sure about the universe expanding; there is evidence, but it is not a scientific fact.

Anyway, the Universe may have come about because it had too. Isn't non-existence just a concept created by humans?

Steve N, nobody actually knows how big the universe is, nobody can even hazard a guess. It was once suggested that it was 6 billion times bigger than our galaxy, then it was discovered to be bigger.

James H, philosophical dualism is a theory. Nothing more. The fact that you believe yourself more deserving of a soul than other species on Earth suggests the presence of a superiority complex.

with enough time(say billions of years) trowing a wheelbarrow full of bricks would work
as for the origin of the univers scientists still don't know but at least their trying to find out unlike theists who regard it as unimportant

The problem is that you attempt to use statistics without actually giving numbers. No matter, because you obviously do not understand the statistics behind what you claim, and you obviously do not understand the relevancy of statistics. I wonder why you bother. Why not just say that you know god exists because you believe that god exists. Why try to convince us using an improper use of irrelevant statistics. Or, is that how you were convinced, by someone making an improper use of irrelevant statistics, and you bought that as a form of scientific proof that what you believe in is true because you believe it is true?

look at down symdrome....aka trisomy 21, where an extra chromosome is in the 21st pair. i could be thoerized that something like this happend but it BENEFITED the species, where as downs syndrome is obviously a detrement o the human who uifortunatley has it.

maybe that is why e have 26 chromosomes....over time, RNA mistakes led to our evoultion.

Plenty of theists believe in science as well as God. The majority of scientists, mathematicicans, college students, doctors, etc. believe in God. Stop accepting the phoney propaganda about God vs. science. God created the entire universe and all of its scientific principles - there is no conflict.

Additional:

It is a lie that the majority of scientific personnel are atheist. If you insist this is not true, then give references, otherwise you will continue in your self-delusion.

The odds against spontaneous construction of a living molecule exceeds the number of molecules in the universe.

Something had to start the process, then evolution can explain the rest.
