If the Prophet visited you (peace and blessings be upon him)
I wonder........................
If Prophet Muhammad visited you
Just for a day or two,
If he came unexpectedly,
I wonder what you would do?
Oh I know you would give your nicest room,
To such an honored guest,
And you would serve him your very best.
You would be the very best,
Cause you're glad to have him there,
That serving him in your home
Would be a joy without compare.
But...when you see him coming,
Would you meet him at the door
With your arms outstretched in welcome,
To your visitor?
Or...would you have to change your clothes
before you let him in?
Or hide some magazines and put
The Quran where they had been?
Would you still watch those movies,
Or your T.V. set?
Or would you switch it off,
Before he gets upset.
Would you turn off the radio,
And hope he had not heard?
And wish that you did not utter
your last loud hasty word?

Would you hide your wordly music,
And instead take out Hadith books?
Could you let him walk right in,
Or would you rush about?
And I wonder...if the Prophet spent, a day or two with you,
Would you go on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on and say the things You always say?
Would life for you continue
As it does from day to day?
Would your family conversations,
Keep up their ususal pace?
And would you find it hard each meal,
To say a table grace?
Would you keep up each and every prayer?
Without putting on a frown?
And would you always jump up early,
For Fajr at dawn?
Would you sing the songs you always sing?
And read the book you read?
And let him know the things on which,
Your mind and spirit feed?
Would you take the Prophet with you,
Everywhere you plan to go?
Or, would you maybe change your plans,
Just for a day or so?

Would you be glad to have him meet,
Your very closest friends?
Or, would you hope they stay away,
Until his visit ends?
Would you be glad to have him stay,
Forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief,
When he at last was gone?
It might be intresting to know,
The things that you would do.
If Prophet Muhammad, came,
To spend some time with you

May Allah bless you all :-)

I'm not religious at all, but I like the poem a lot, I think it is very thought provoking. The reason I like it is that anyone could ask themselves these same questions, you would not have to be a muslim to look at your self and question yourself in this way, and I think that it is always a good idea to question yourself, your actions and beliefs. Its a great piece of writing.

Shabash, what a lovely poem! And it certainly got me thinking. I don't have any dirty magazines to hide or switch the radio off, coz I rarely listen to music but I would be worried about whether the house is tidy and the sink isn't full of dirty dishes. I would be more careful about the things I say and I do watch tv but not dirty stuff, more like cartoon or dramas. As for waking up for Fajr, InshaAllah that's not a problem, in fact I would feel terrible if I missed it or any other Salaat for that matter.
Thankyou for sharing this poem, it is very nice.
God bless you.

Just so I don't ruin my best answer as it is meant only for those who can comprehend my magic. I did find it off but the word ensnare needed to be there so I figured I will change it because it didn't sound right at the end of the last line. It cannot be changed once you grasp its true direction. You know there are no corrections in poetry if its an expression about you or something else. We will take Shakespeare for an example. #Laughter

Allah sends down His blessings on the Prophet and His angels pray for him. O ye who believe, you too should invoke His blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of peace.
The Prophet is nearer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are as mothers to them. And blood-relations are nearer to one another, according to the Book of Allah, than other believers from among the Helpers and the Emigrants except that you show kindness to your friends. This is also written down in the Book.
'Whoever is an enemy to Allah, and His angels, and His Messengers, and Gabriel, and Michael, then surely, Allah is an enemy to such disbelievers.'
Holy Quran
Whoever loves the prophet Allah loves him. whoever angers the prophet angers Allah. whoever respect the prophet respects Allah. whoever is an enemy of the prophet is an enemy of Allah. And whoever follows the prophet and his pure family and companions has held to the rope of Allah.
"Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the Ummi whom they find mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel which are with them. He enjoins on them good and forbids them evil and makes lawful for them the good things and forbids them the bad things and remove from them their burdens and shackles that were upon them. So those who shall believe in him and honour and support him and help him and follow the light that has been sent down with him - these shall prosper."
Holy Quran

Brilliant poem! Give my best regards and congrats to the person who wrote this, and thanks for presenting this to us.
By the way, the Prophet (SM) would not get upset at our conduct, rather he would help us rectify ourselves. If he would get upset, then it will only be because we might be subjected to rightful punishment by Allah, the Greatest, and he doesn't want that to happen.

Nice, but you forgot to say that God is always with us and sees whatever we do. For sure God is higher than any Prophet.
So we shouldn't only do it for the Prophet, we should do it for God.
