Employers are required to check two forms of identification before hiring an employee. Often this includes a drivers license and a social security card. I don't recall all the other alternative documents but I do recall a passport as being valid too. These documents are also used to ensure you are paying taxes and that you are paying into social security .
As for direct deposit, your debit card will not work. What you need is a check that you clearly mark as VOID (write VOID in large letters over the entire check). The employer will use the routing numbers located on the lower portion of the check to establish direct deposit of your paycheck into your bank account.

They are offering to set up direct deposit for you, which is awesome by the way! So, what you should bring is:
The name of your bank and it's address
your account #
your bank's routing #
a blank check - voided of course
Basically, just bring your checkbook.
Your bank's routing # & your account # are generally typed along the bottom of every check & they'll need the voided check to start the process off.
Your debit card will do you no good in this situation so don't worry about that!

You bring a deposit slip so they can get the routing number and account number to your account. They are going to deposit your paycheck directly into you account on payday...DO NOT take your debit card there is nothing they can do with that. Your brother know nothing. And you need you Social Security Card! b/c they need to make a copy to send into the government with your W-2 that you will fill out. This insures that you are a US citizen

For direct deposit, you need the bank name, routing number (the first series of numbers before your account number on the bottom left of your check), account number and type of account (savings or checking)
In some cases, the company may require bank address and phone number (contact when they have an issue, but this is rare info that is asked)
Congratulations on your new job!

You need:
Your social security card (goes on tax documents)
Your checkbook or a voided check..THIS has your account # and is what your employer needs to process your direct deposit, so you will be paid directly in your bank account. MOST employers require this now. You do not need to bring your debit card.
You will also need your:
Drivers liscense, learners permit or state ID

a voided check or deposit slip... It's so they can get the money into your account using the banks routing numbers and the other ID #'s on the check. Your debit card won't help.
