I just saw another race fan try to say that Tony Stewart (best race car driver around, and the sexiest, too :-) needs to "grow up and be a man"--meaning not cuss or talk about celebrating a win by drinking lots of beer--by quoting a Bible verse that barely relates at all.

I can say I like a driver or think a driver's acting like a jerk without having to crack open a religious book or post Pagan slogans, you know? And I'm still Pagan even if I go a few minutes without mentioning it. So why does anyone think putting a Bible verse in everything is effective or helpful?

because they do not think that their judgment or condemnations of behavior alone will have merit with out backing up their thoughts with the highest authority they can think of to support them for it to have any impact or be listened to.

Because people like to condemn other people by their own standards to make them feel better or holier.
In the Catholic Church, we don't need a Bible verse for everything, because we've known for 2,000 years that the Bible does not contain every story or detail, nor does it claim to. In fact, it's just the opposite. One of the Gospels says at the end that there are many other things that Jesus said and did, but the whole world could not contain all these things.

I don't know anything about the Stewart incident because I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I can tell you that people use the Bible to back up their opinions because they fear misrepresenting God's Word. I would rather quote Scripture in relative context than to be completely wrong and hurtful about what i say and how I say it.

Makes me wonder how folks would react if we started quoting Pagan writings at them. ::sighs:: It's all fine and good that they hold the Bible as the central part of their beliefs, but at the same time, it's good to be able to articulate those beliefs in their own words.

Because Christians aren't allowed to think for themselves; therefore, they have to quote the Bible in order to answer questions or denigrate someone for their beliefs or actions.

GreenEyedLilo can do what she pleases with her faith. Also other people have a choice and free will. I think that quoting the Bible is optional, and I would opt for it often. I believe it is a living word of God. : )

They have been brainwashed and programmed to spew their religious hogwash at us until it makes us sick...just ignore those fools...they should keep their religion to themselves...Christians have no concept of freedom of religion...its not a free pass for you to force feed your views to us, its a free pass for us to choose how we believe or not believe, so take your good news, and your bibles and shove them up your @$$ and leave us "sinners" alone...when we want your man made religion, we'll come to you...until then leave us the HECK alone!!!
