I'm getting a tattoo tomorrow and i'm getting alittle nervous.. its my first tattoo so i'm not really sure what pain i can tolerate. I figured since I'm a female and i get really bad period cramps that it wouldnt be that bad since i handle that type of pain well, but im still not sure. So if anyone has had a tattoo on the hip area? could you tell me kinda what it feels like and if its really painful or not?

I dont think its going to hit my hip bone because my tattoo is pretty small. maybe that would make it less painful?

It will be over with before
you have a chance to scream.
There is not a lot of pain in
that area for most people.
Talk to your artist. You can take
as many breaks as you need.
It's a small tat, it will be over quickly.

I have one just above my left hip and it hurt like hell!! And on top of that, I'm a very ticklish person and that happened to be a very ticklish spot. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but I did neither....the artist had to make sure I was still breathing...he doesn't normally do them there because people move around to much but I lay there like a statue. That was my second tattoo and if it had been my first, I don't think I would have gotten anymore. And the pain of a tattoo needle and cramps are too entirely different ballgames.

I have a pretty good-sized tat on my left hip, and dear Gaia, it hurt when I got it done! I was panting to get through the pain. For me, the ones over bony areas hurt less than the ones over fleshy areas (I have four, two on my left ankle, one on my right bicep, and one on my left hip). The worst part is when the artist draws the outline.

But all tattoos hurt; there's no getting around it.

Nope. Girls typically have more fat on their hips and this cushions the needle against the bone which can be painful. If it's small you should be in and out.

On a plus side, the area will numb on it's own as it's happening. It will not numb in the sense you wont feel it, but you will get used to the pressure.

Make sure you're using a good tattoo artist and avoid adult beverages before or after, as it thins your blood and you may bleed more. Typically if you're using a good tat artitst, you will not bleed at all.

Tattoos hurt no matter where you get them. It also depends on how "fleshy" your hips are. If you are very thin it will hurt more. The pain factor truly depends on your pain tolerance overall.

I have a tattoo kind of on my hip and it's small and no, it didn't hurt and that's coming from someone who is scared to have a blood test!

When I got mine, it wasn't that painful. I was told by the guy who tattoo'd me that it was going to feel like cat's nails on a sunburn. Afterward, the tattoo stung.

yes, I have one there...2 cherries. I have one on my arm, spine, lower back and more...

Honestly the one on my hip hurt the most. I do'nt know if it was because I have really tender skin there, or what but it hurt like a beeeotch.

It was small and fast, so I lasted through it, but yep, it hurts :)

Good luck!
