I know that it causes hyperthyroidism and can xcause cardiac problems, but what are the chances of it being cancer?

Many women have colloid cysts on their thyroid gland. It is fairly common, and as a matter of a fact, I myself have a few of them. Colloid cysts are usually harmless, and are left alone unless they are disrupting the function of the gland.
After an ultrasound, it should be obvious whether or not there is a chance of it being cancer. The chance is small, but it does happen.
Are you having a biopsy of it?

I'm not sure where the other person got their info, but the chance that a thyroid tumor (also called a nodule) is cancer is very very low. Thyroid nodules are very common and 95% of the time they are not cancer. A biopsy will tell you for sure.

I actually had a nodule that turned out to be cancerous, but that's very uncommon. Though luckily it is one of the easiest cancers to treat with surgery.

The chances of a tumor on the thyroid being cancerous are very good, found in time of course they can be taken care of. These tumors are very aggressive though so, time is of the essence.
