yes! atleast in my case! my ex wanted me to go for plastic surgery for my nose as its a bit big. and he also wanted me to become fair! the reason he gave was "what will i tell my parents? they want a fair and good looking daughter-in-law".

so yes men like these do exist! even if they themselves look like black coal, they want their gilrs to look like a celebrity! specially in india!

Naturally beauty is a factor mostly seen both by a girl or a boy while choosing a partner. It is because each one has that urge to have good things in life. Physical beauty is not an important factor all the time but inner beauty is the main concern in selecting a person. But many go by the looks of a person later repent. inner beauty is first and then outer looks of a person is to be considered.but who would think all that so they just go by the looks of a girl....

Joking aside, physical beauty is a major part of what attracts us to mate at first. You don't know the person so you make a judgment on looks, possibly even pheromones, its biology. There is also the "trophy" aspect for some men (and women) that is something has more value if it is desired or admired by others. This seems to be more important for less mature men and men with self image issues.

At least to me, once past the initial introduction/meeting the qualifications for a partner were based on items like, perceived ability as a wife, mother, friend, confident, common goals, values etc.

I think they start out like that but then things change in their eyes, life etc. Because when you see certain stories featured on talk shows, or t.v. specials the men have "good looking" partners and end up having affairs with people that, others might deem as being not so attractive. And when it comes to marriage it's more than beauty that is going to make that work. Because think about people that have been in accidents and are now deformed the men are with their wives/girlfriends. So it depends.
