The religion of Christmas is selling whatever people will buy. Electricity, lightbulbs, plastic trash of any sort.
What's the question?

Why do people celebrate their own birthday with a bunch of wax candles melting all over their cake? I believe the "silly plastic yard jesus-manger" things are simply a method for reminding themselves and others whose birthday is being celebrated on Christmas. In all the hubbub of Christmas, it sometimes takes a "Christianity symbol" to make you stop and remember the birth of Christ and his life on Earth.

You won't you don't have a Christian Christmas Spirit. It isn't about the manager, plastic or silly, sunfaded or brought from K-Mart or Wal-Mart it is about the blessing of the day and blessing others.

If it gives them some pleasure, why should you or I care ? They go through a lot of work rigging up all of that decoration and lights, and again taking it all down and stacking it away, but thet're not asking you or I for help in doing it, so what's the problem ?

I don't get it either. It's tacky, chintzy and undignified. There are nativity displays that are much nicer than that if you look for them. But, it's their yard, and unless they live in a gated community where it's against the by-laws it's their concern, not mine.

its just a tradition, and like many other if not all traditions...it doesn't make much sense. You might as well ask why to put Menora on Chanuka, or why to light a bon fire on a full moon....It don't make sense, its a human thing to put things out, make noise, and do other sometimes primitive things....

Why do rednecks leave their christmas lights up year round? Why do hippys not take baths? Why do people like you ask stupid questions like this one that do not have a valid answer?
