(From Nuns on the Run, 1990)
No. No, it's the doctrine of original sin. You see, we're all born sinful, except for Jesus who was perfect of course. And he was sent to save us. But how could he save us unless we're sinning? So we have to go on sinning in order to be saved and go to Heaven. That's how Christianity works. That's why it suits so many people.

I thought the quote was interesting, Pestie. Not necessarily wise, but interesting nonetheless.

And who said this in the movie? I want to know what kind of crack this dude was smoking; it probably WAS some serious stuff!... LOL
Seriously, who says that we HAVE to sin in order to be saved? If anything, I thought Christians had to do all they can to KEEP from committing sin. This is the most RIDICULOUS concept I have EVER heard!
And I also don't believe that we as people are *born* sinful either.
If the speaker was a reverend or a priest, then his head must be loosened somehow, because no way does that logic fit anywhere.

Well, it's half right. The part about "we have to go on sinning in order to be saved and go to Heaven" is nonsense, of course. We don't have to sin. And it's not how Christianity works.

I am sorry, but the part where the person says "So we have to go on sinning in order to be saved and go to Heaven." is nonsense. This implies that it is necessary for us to sin. This is contrary to God's command to love Him and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Sinning is not something that we HAVE to do in order to be saved. Sinning is something that we are going to do because of our fallen nature. Our goal is to sin as little as possible. We should not lose heart when we do sin because we can always go to God for forgvieness.
To be forgiven, we must be contrite of heart. The attitude of "Oh, it's ok if I sin because God will forgive me anyway" will not get you forgiveness.

The ultimate Catch-22 huh? The only way to get to heaven is to be saved. The only way to be saved is to sin. But sinning is wrong in the first place.
Just more Christian logic.

No, you do not have to go on sinning to need salvation. Before you are able to get to be able to plan a sin you have already many sins without been aware of.

The Apostle Paul discusses that in Romans. "Shall we go on sinning, so that God's grace may abound? Certainly not."
Christians are not perfect upon becoming Christians; they (we) still sin. But we are called to be holy as He is holy. So, sinning because we want to take advantage of forgiveness is taking God for granted. If you take your spouse for granted, does that go well?
