Try walking. Sounds simple and it really is, start slow, at least 1 mile for about a week, then increase your pace, for a week. Then go for 2 miles. If you can handle it, find a route that isn't all flat, gentle slopes really help work your muscles. Best of all, find a partner, it's easy to skip a walk by yourself, but if you are going to disappoint someone, it's very hard. I walk 3 miles a day, and lost 60 pounds in about a year, it's slow, but steady, and the weight stays off. Just don't stop, and watch what you eat, no starches, sweets and bad fats!

Swimming, the best exercise for anyone who can't handle aerobics.
Swim at least once a day and you'll notice a major improvement.
You can also try Tai Chi, it my not seem like real exercise, but after awhile, if you get good at it, it will make a difference.
Good luck :)

Swimming. Without a shadow of a doubt. It supports your body weight so your knees will not be affected, plus the resistance of the water is excellent at toning the body.

Walking nonstop at a fast pace for a few miles and watch what you eat. Cut back on the junk foods.

Hi,
Yes, it's difficult to go for some physical exercises if you have a bad knee. Instead, you can follow a diet regime to bring your weight to the desired level. Checkout http://www.healthopts.com for an answer related to your query. Good luck for a fabulous look!
