Hey Engina,
I hope you are sincerely, wondering and moving towards being saved, it's the best decision a person could ever make.
I take it that you are alive (if not and you wrote your question...that would be scary :) but assuming your alive means that at some time u were born, and born as a human.
God is the maker, He made us and God is Spirit He invented or created the earth, solar system & our bodies, flesh & bone its like a vehicle to get around and we are ble to think so there is more to us than just some bones & muscle (computer analogy) hardware = the body, we have software (mind & soul).
So God made us with a free will that is, you aren't a programmed robot. God loves us so much and He wants to be loved also but He doesn't force us, we get to choose.
The problem: is that we can choose to not love, even to reject God totally, and we can go the opposite directon, like when we choose whatever WE want regardless of what God wants for us (which is always the best for us) it is called sin, like when our parents set good guidelines for us (don't play with matches etc) but we disobey their rules.
That sin, or disobedience caused us to be separated from God, but the solution is to be brought back together with our loving God. But sin had to be dealt with and actually it is so serious to God that it requires death...(pretty serious I'd say) this death from sin is what separated us from God and we would have to be perfect that is sinless to avoid the separation. Well in comes Jesus, God and Son He came to earth to do what we couldn't, live a perfect life and die in our place and based on His death on the cross for sins...the sin separation issue was dealt with. So saved means, saved from now & eternal separation from God by accepting God's forgiveness based on Jesus paying the price on the cross. That is how much God loves us He was willing to pay the ultimate price for you and me and anyone that would choose to realize the problem and see their need for forgiveness and ask for that forgiveness. It's been years now but one day at work, someone explained this to me and when I was alone I started talking to God, I was sincere & I said if it's true & your real, I want to be forgiven, please forgive me wash away & clean my heart & soul & mind from sin and come into my life, show me what life is like with You in it. Well, I knew something happened but I didn't understand it all at the time. But it has to do with your question, you see we can't be connected our in relationship with God until we have the Holy Spirit within us (remember God is Spirit) so when you ask for forgiveness and repent (meaning you don't want to go in the same direction you were going, you want to go God's way, do the good stuff He wants you to do). At the moment God forgives you He puts the Holy Spirit in you and the Holy Spirit helps you to live a different life and that is where the connection comes in to be connected to God by His Spirit.
I realize, that all this can sound so out there...it sure did to me, and some will mock, make fun, I understand I was there before, but the reason it doesn't make sense just with our intellect, like I said in the beginning we are made pretty awesome, body, mind soul, but there is so much more that God wants us to experience & it's like the beginning is when you accept the forgivness of your sin's and He puts His Spirit in you, it's like the lights come on & you can see. I have never regretted taking Him up on His offer, He is such a kind, loving awesome God, I just wish I would have known sooner and not spent so much time not knowing and loving my God.
He has done things in my life that I wouldn't of imagined, for example, right now I live in Europe with my family, I'm the director of an international company (which those changes alone still amaze me). But they were things that God wanted to do in my life and it has been pretty awesome. I can't imagine my life without a close relationship to God anymore and when tough things happen, loss of loved ones, tragedies... I have a question for you....where do you go, to whom do you turn when your world is rocked hard?
I go through the stuff like we all do, but now I know where to go, I turn to the one who hold the universe in His hands, the maker of Heaven and earth that says, I'll never leave you or forsake you.

Here is a famous verse: John 3:16-18"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
Okay sorry I went on for so long, but I pray that you take Him on His offer for forgiveness. If you know a Christian (not just wears the hat, but really someone who seems so different and filled with love) tell them and if they invite you to go to church or a bible study, check it out. I know there are a lot of fakers, hipocrites, but don't let those be excuses that keep you separated from the one who formed your heart and knows you & loves you enought to die for you. There are real children of God with the Spirit of God living in them.

Give this site a listen, I think they do a good job of explaining
how you can begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,

Also Greg Laurey is a cool funny, bible teacher but He knows what he's talking about so you may be able to listen to the progams on line or get some more info also they have what's called a Harvest Festival held, I think there is one in early August in California and probably other states also, but here you go & God bless you.

I can honestly say that having the Holy Spirit in me is like having a compass in me that I didn't have before. He gives me direction, not necessarily morals, but more like a clear path.

When I first got saved it was like a flood. I had some previous 'issues' that were dealt with (demonic possession since I was about 8 years old), and God took that away. I also received a vision. It isn't like that all of the time.

If I turn my heart to Him at a quiet time, like when I go to bed, there is a warm feeling that I get from Him. Like I am close to Him and I am cared for.

One of the most radical things that God's Spirit does for me is to understand scripture. I don't understand all of it, but I find that I do understand more and more. This I attribute to the way God works, He teaches. I can see this in others too because those who are not saved have the hardest times understanding the simplest verses. I find this amazing, and nothing other than a miracle in daily life.

I could write so much more about this subject, but I see that I have gone on long enough.

When people call Christianity a "religion", to me it's as if they are saying that a ocean is a waterway. It's just not covering the reality of it all: The extent of it's implications.

The Holy Spirit adds a dimension of understanding you don't have previously, and imparts a heart that does not seek to sate your own desires, but is concerned for all other people.

He is a Spirit of love the likes of which you were unable to experience before.

Being saved is the condition of those who believe and understand the gospel. Read the examples of the apostles preaching the gospel and understand.

There is comfort because you know you're never alone. There is refuge from troubles and you can take a breather and rest, feeling God's presence in you, and you know that He still has His eye on you. But when you choose to sin, and we do, you feel that just as acutely. Anyone who carries the Spirit in them knows the incredible weight of guilt for sins, and there's such a feeling of relief when you ask forgiveness. It's wonderful when you're in right standing, but terrible when you're not. That's why we constantly struggle to put off the old man with his deeds and embrace the new man. But it's hard. Don't kid yourself. Christianity ain't for wusses.

There is no feeling to it. The Holy Spirit seems to help guide you in better directions. The only time I felt Him was once about 20 years ago.I was lying and bed and thinking "Gee,I don't feel any different,I've never spoken in tounges, how do I know you are there?" Right then ,I got a shock through my body that convused me ! I said "OK,Ok I believe you!" I was convinced it is the real deal.It was a jolt, and not too pleasant either.Like "How dare you doubt!" That type of thing.

It comes to diffrent to diffrent people. It like a gift.Designed specific for you.For me I can read people well,NOT IN JUDGMENT.I have dreams everyone in awhile of where I will be going. An when I get to talking about Jesus' love.I start shaking.Because for that moment.I feel his love roaring through me.
But as I said the gift is unique. He will give you just what is needed in his perfect time.In our perspective not fast enough. But eventually you know he is right.

For me it was phases. First relief, then shame, then sadness that others are lost and don't know it. And now a sense of purpose and connection to something greater than Creation itself.
All of the things I tried to stop doing on my own and couldn't - gradually I was able to overcome them.

I don't know whether or not I have the Holy Spirit in me, but if I do, I sure hope he likes burritos, because that's what he's about to get for lunch.

For me personally..Wow! You know it right away..You are more aware of sin..little things..like being kind to others..and just small things ..You feel this urgent need to let everyone know about this ..about Christ..Its always inside of you..kind of like a whisper..always talking to you....( you don't actually hear voices mind you!)..but its your inner voice telling you what to do. Its an amazing experience.

heres a secret the christians don't want you to know. in fact many of them don't accept it themself.

you *do* already have it.

your soul, who you are, your true self, is a spark of the divine. a part of "the holy spirit" that is at the core of your being.

its already there, you just have to recognize it, and help that spark be illuminated.
