If you don't like the idea of using Newspaper, you could opt for either cardboard..or spending some of your own money and go out and buy the toilet paper. A little help from your sons and daughters goes a long way, even longer than the Andrex toilet tissue, advertising the cute Labrador Puppy.
As to would I use newspaper..yes, I have had to in the past, and the cardboard from the toilet roll..Ouch!!.

If you can't afford cat litter or toys, how are you going to afford to feed it? In the list of medical things it needs to have done, don't forget deworming. At 4 months it needs to be neutered or spayed and microchipped. Now what do you mean by "restraint" because that is nothing cat owners use. So how exactly are you going to retrain the kitten, with what, and why? You need a cat carrier and a litter box. You could use shredded newspaper or dirt but it will be smelly. Check local 99 Cent Stores or Dollar Trees or equivalent and see if they have a pet section and sell litter for a buck. Your kitten can only eat kitten kibble and canned kitten food, it cannot eat adult cat food and it cannot drink cow's milk. The kitten should be weaned somewhere between 6 to 8 weeks and you mix KMR with kitten kibble to make a loose much. Their teeth and jaws are not strong enough to eat straight hard kibble. Since you don't know what you are doing, why wouldn't you turn it over to the SPCA and let them find a home for it?

Ah, that brings back memories. My Nanna used to use newspaper when the loo roll ran out. It works just fine. I'd still rush out to buy more toilet rolls as soon as possible though.

I would not use newspaper, not unless you want a really big mess. Why don't you just go and buy some more before it's too late?
