He always gets a tablespoon of cottage cheese and ground dog food in the morning. We leave him food through out the day but he hardly eats it. We tried 3 different foods, he likes them for a few weeks but then he doesn't like them anymore.

Good quality dog food.. they get bored easily of foods with crappy ingredients.. Good food, and don't worry about him not eating while you're gone.. most dogs don't.. Unless it's something they find on the counter.

The reason he won't eat the other stuff is because he prefers what you feed him in the morning. What you need to do is remove the cottage cheese and soft food and have him only eat the dry stuff. If a dog eats to much soft food and no crunchy food their teeth will soon fall out because they are not working them with dry food.

you must remember they are little dogs so what they are eating now is fine , but also if you eat dinner same time as he does he wont eat cause he will beg you so you must feed him either a hour before you eat or a hour after! And also i bought a dog sauce ( goes in and on the food) called IAMS Savory sauce.
My dog eats it like crazy and i am sure your dog will to!
Dogs 4 ever!

chis are very easily spoiled.
he is waiting for more of the special food.
All my dogs only get dry food. tehre is no need to give teh cottage cheese and meat.
you have made him picky i suggest you just pick a dry food and give him that only and he will end up eating it I myself feed Purina One for the adult dogs and Purina Puppy Chow from 4 weeks - 1 year.

Well I heard if you have that dog food that looks like big cereal pieces than they have this gravy that all dogs love and all you have to do is put it in his bowl or food

if you think its the flavor of the food he doesnt like...try the IAMS flavor sauces. theyre packaged in something like ketchup bottles. is your vet telling you to feed him more? make sure you dont over feed him.
