While there are many religion in this world there is only one God, While each religion chooses to call God by a different name and worship him in different ways there still is only one God, The God that I know and have a relationship with knows no hate, bigotry or evilness. He only knows love, compassion, tolerance and kindness. I believe that God created all of us and we are all his genetic heirs. By believing this I open myself to all religions and beliefs for not any of them are perfect only God is. While we can learn from religion are we learning the lessons that were intended. Every religion except Athesists that I am aware of believe that God created us (humans). So if we believe that he created us who are we to persucute anyone? Who are we to judge anyone else for their beliefs, sexuality or moral beings? Are we that egotistical in our own beliefs that we are without fault? When I hear a religion quoting from the bible my first question is which version.

My second question is do you follow Gods beliefs or mans. A man made the bible whichever version you are currently reading. With all of his faults, prejudice and opinions. I choose to follow in Gods beliefs not some man whom I don't know. I embrace all of my brothers and sisters no matter what their beliefs are what religion they practice or what sexuality they have. They are all welcome in my heart as my friends without judgement because I am far from being without fault. I welcome comments. Thank you I know this was a little long

One last thing,. If God created us all who are we to say he made a mistake. Are you that sure in your religion that you can sit and pass judgement on God?

2007-08-01 02:58:54 · update #2

His Creation: No I am not judging I am simply questioning.

2007-08-01 03:03:43 · update #3

Personally no I do not believe that God judges. God loves us no matter what,. Nothing we do will ever change that. We can turn away from God but God will never turn away from us,. As for sin, I believe that people (humans) make mistakes. None of us are without fault. I also believe that we make these mistakes because it is so written in our charts before we come to this world,. I believe we have to make these mistakes or sins as you so call them in order to learn. No matter what the "sin" is from the little white lie to Hitler God has never turned his back on anyone we have only turned our backs on him.

Once again I say put aside the bible all versions put aside what we have been told by religious men. Talk to God one on one, As I said the bible is created by man with all of his faults, opinions and prejudice God did not write the bible, I know this is a very hot subject and eveyone wants to stand up for their religion. What I am asking you to do is to put religion aside. For just a moment forget everything that you have ever been taught clear your mind of any and all religious beliefs for just a moment and communicate with God. Take the time to find out what God wants not what some man is telling us he wants.

You are the type of theist that I actually like. If I met you in a cafe, I'd have no problem sitting and discussing religious philosophies with you, because you won't condemn me to hell for disagreeing with you. Some of your fellow theists on the other hand... well, let's just say I wouldn't wish their religious view on anyone, including themselves.

People preach the Bible because it's God's word, plain and simple.

"genetic heirs"? Sounds almost Mormon to me.

Just because you're worshipping something you call God, doesn't mean you're actually worshipping THE God, the one talked about in the Bible. If you're Mormon you're worshipping an "exalted man" - that's not God. If you're a Jehovah's Witness your Jesus is a created being. If your "God" is a tree, a bird, the sun, moon, etc. are you really worshipping God? I don't think so. That's called an idol.

Yes, many religions have some good points, but that doesn't mean I'm going to accept them as valid. I'm also not going to tell people that there's nothing wrong with following them as that would be a lie.

"So if we believe that he created us who are we to persucute anyone? Who are we to judge anyone else for their beliefs, sexuality or moral beings?"

It sounds like you're mistaking sharing the truth with judging and persecution. If you say 2+2=5 and I say "No, 2+2=4" am I judging you or persecuting you? No, I'm merely sharing the truth with you.

"Are we that egotistical in our own beliefs that we are without fault?"

Well, I believe what God tells me and God doesn't make mistakes so... :)

"When I hear a religion quoting from the bible my first question is which version. "

If you mean "which translation" it doesn't really matter. The main truth of the gospel is not changed in any of the translations.

With regard to your second question, yes, the Bible was written by men, but inspired by God. The Bible is God's word to us through the men who wrote it.

"I embrace all of my brothers and sisters no matter what their beliefs are what religion they practice or what sexuality they have. They are all welcome in my heart as my friends without judgement because I am far from being without fault."

While I accept anyone regardless of religion or sexual preference that doesn't mean I'm not going to share the truth with them. If they're following a false religion it's my duty to tell them. If they're sexual preference is contrary to God's word, I cannot stand by and watch them head down a road that leads to disaster. If you see someone about to walk off a cliff will you not warn them? This isn't judgment, it's compassion and love (tough though it may be at times). It has nothing to do with my imperfection either. I would expect someone to tell me if I'm wrong.

I agree with you on some things, but I wouldn't say that we are "genetic heirs" or God. God made us from the earth; we are apart from God so much so that the serpent convinced Eve in the Garden of Eden that she could "become like God." I might be inclined to agree with you that no religion is perfect inasmuch as no human person can fully comprehend the mysteries and ways of God. However, even then, I would have to say that it is not the religion that is imperfect, but the people. You can say at some level that you are open to all religions, but at some point, you have to recognize that God is not a shapeshifter: He is an objective, universal truth. When you deny this, you are not being open to all religions, but rather are living in a religion of your own creation. I also believe that all religions are pursuing the one and same God, but ultimately one has to be better than the rest, because one can claim to have been founded by God and the promise was made that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

I agree with your message of love and tolerance, but if you believe that the Catholic Church teaches otherwise, then you don't really know the Catholic Church.

You are both right and wrong. You're right that, as created beings who are all sinners, no one has the right to judge or persecute anyone else. Indeed, God has told us this in His Word (any translation of the Bible has this). However, we do not all worship the same God, even if we acknowledge that there is a God. We can't take the parts of God that we like and worship that and ignore the rest. Yes, God is a God of love, and mercy, and compassion and tolerance and kindness. But there's still sin, or would you call Him a liar? He still gives us His Law (an no law I know of anywhere contradicts His law, whether or not the lawmakers acknowledge Him). If there is a Law, there is a penalty for violation of the Law. If God is ONLY a God of love, mercy, kindness, compassion, etc., why give a law in the first place, since such a God would never enforce it? But God does enforce His Law, and that's why Jesus came to live a life without sin, that's how He was able to die as a perfect sacrifice for sin, and by His resurrection He sealed the deal of eternal life. God is a Just God, as much as a loving God, and because Jesus paid our price for sin, we can claim His sacrifice and be justly excused of our sin. If we do this, we will not have to suffer God's wrath against sin, and God, Himself, out of His boundless love, provided this one, and only, means of redemption for sin. God has always said a day would come when He would judge the world. Those found wanting will suffer His wrath, and "it is a frightful thing to be in the hand of an angry God." If you do not worship Him in whole, you do not worship Him in truth, and you are deluding yourself as to what truth is.

Well, God would be everywhere and that would mean that God is in hate and fear and evil too, perfect emotions, from a perfect God.

God, from a biblical sense is sin. Sin is recognizable difference from one will, which is what God could easily be seen as having before there was material, while there was only imagination. But God, or Creator/Creation made a conscious decision to divide into material which includes man.

Man, using image, which is what God was before man was Created from a total image that included man, wrote the Bible and other books.

Man continues to have thoughts even after the Bible was written, that sometimes contradict that book, that sometimes improve the plight of man verses nature and himself, all parts of God.

Man continues to explore and have more time to come to conclusions that he could not 2000 years ago. Some of these conclusions help man survive his circumstances better today than he would have been able to survive 2000 years ago.

So what we have is an unfolding of 2000 year old Words from Creation or image, to Words from Creation image of the present and an unfolding of functional truth.

We judge for functional truth purposes. We should judge compassionately, attempting to do onto others as we would have them do unto us, AS IF WE WERE THEM, improving the laws of love laid down for us by Jesus and any of the others. It is okay to fail at love, just keep trying to love and learn about love.

Egotism comes from a desire to worship people for some sort of perceived perfection that has been purported to have happenned from them. There is no person who is perfect at compassion. We can all grow, even Jesus, just in case you worship him more than others.

I am glad that you focus on the nice things from God sometimes.

In answer to your question-people often preach the
Bible-or what they get out of it-to justify their own hates, fears, and prejudices. I really can't blame you for how you feel-there is much hypocrisy in the name of Christianity.

But,I would be interested in knowing-what do you see as the source of your faith? The Bible-when read as a whole, not just to prove something contains all the good things you believe in-and more!

Please-don't let a bunch of hypocrites make you throw out the baby with the bath water.

We project our defects on to others and our attributes on to higher entities. In your case "God." God is not a person, but a force for creation, a multi-dimensional reality responsive to consciousness.

YOU are loving, compassionate, tolerant and kind. Stop projecting. Every religion teaches a path for overcoming this learned pattern - seeing our own unacknowledged darkness in others. But, you're right, most people don't get it. Projecting is too pleasurable to the ego. It will NEVER give up this insidious, addictive pleasure. WE have to kill it.

Good for you, you've sucessfully created the god of your own mind.

In the end you will either believe or disbelieve in God’s Sovereignty, or you will soften its edges with compromises in order to blunt the truth of it. But you will certainly not affect the Glory of God or His Sovereignty by your belief or unbelief, for “when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants” (Luke 17:10) You will not have had an affect on the glory of God one way or the other. All those who read these words will, in the end, come to know the One and True God, or they will continue to worship the God of their minds, and in doing so they will heap unto themselves destruction and damnation for all eternity.

God is not only a god of love.... but one of holiness and judgement.....he would not be god if he did not execute justice for wrongdoing......so i do not know which god you are talking about.....you have one that does not care about morality????

it sounds like you have a generic god ...so how could you know him? what distinguishes him from others? how did he establish what he represents with you? what is your proof?

i am all for feeling the love of god...but i hope you are not ignoring important issues that need to be resolved to merit eternal life....god is not a fool that ignores sin....you never mentioned god as "forgiving"... we have all done things wrong... and we all need to be sorry and repent...and ask for forgiveness.

if it is obvious to others that we have sinned,...they should not hurt us...but it is appropriate that they do not deny the sin...to make us feel better...and we need to admit the sin and stop doing it.....

The short answer is: most of those people aren't worshipping god -- they're worshipping themselves.

Ever heard of anyone who WASN'T certain they were going to be forgiven and granted entrance into paradise? Or that their own tribe WASN'T the Chosen People? Or whose god didn't seem to want EXACTLY the same things they themselves want?

They do not serve god; they make their god serve them.
