I have refused newspaper service for years, because I am sick of the clutter. There used to be a Sunday only option. Then that turned into the weekend option which was Friday - Sunday, now the only two options are THURS-SUNDAY or daily.
I have repeatedly told the sales people when they call me, that I will gladly subscribe when they bring back the SUNDAY only option PERIOD ! A couple of times they have told me that they would make an exception for me, (just to get my $) and then the newspapers started littering my doorstep THURS-SUNDAY, and of course when I called to complain, they would then tell me that SUNDAY only wasn't an option.
Now that I know they put even MORE clutter and litter in the papers (including AOL discs, etc) that is just ONE MORE reason to read the paper on line.
I already have a bible, many households do, so I think they are wasting their time.

I already have several different translations of the Bible, and I don't need another one. What a waste of natural resources, to print up a bunch of books that are going to get thrown away. I don't think they should do the 8 pounds of ads, either. (By the way--I don't want a Quran or a Book of Mormon or any other unsolicited book, either. I can buy the books that I want, and I already have most religious texts anyway).

I wonder how people would feel if they had a packet of atheist information delivered with their paper.
I read this article as well, and found it odd that the preacher they interviewed said something along the lines of 'people don't complain when a sample of detergent is delivered with the paper'. I can honestly say that no one has ever damned me to hell for not reading my bottle of laundry detergent! There's a difference there.
I also thought it was interesting that half the complaints were coming from christians. That is great news! That means that there are some christians who feel that religion is a private, personal matter and shouldn't be pressed onto people who believe differently.

That'd sure be alot of bibles. Are they going to give one out daily?
I'd probably try to sell them to a Christian Book Store.
EDIT: Look at the answerer above me, "I only agree with forcing MY faith on other people, but I find it to be an outrage that the Mormons or Muslims might do the same thing to me."

YES ! I'll subscribe to all newspapers that give a free Bible or Qu-ran or Book of Mormon ! And I'll pass them out to all who don't have one and have the spiritual "guts" to read all of it, and to see if there are any gems of Truth that "ring-true".
Nothing is "going too far" in Eternal Truth sharing ! All Humans soon will be as Burning Fires of Burning Truth and who will help spread like wild-Fire JESUS' benign "VIRUS OF LOVE" in Light and Eternal Life and in loving service to each and all, now 6.5 billion, Divinely Beloved Humans here !
Sacred Divine-Human Rights are coming to replace the weaker, mostly intellectual and secular "human rights".
Our very Elder Brother GODMAN JESUS here in SPIRIT says so ! "Love your enemies" They too are now sons of God made by Jesus Christ !
Peace and progress,
Brother Dave, a Jesusonian Christian Truthist

Seems pointless and wasteful. Most people in this country, even if they aren't Christian, have a copy of the Bible already. I could think of a lot better ways for him to spend the money. Perhaps using it to run a homeless shelter.

I have my own books for referrence. My nugget has a religious section on Sat. I must say, it sure is crappy. I might have to fire a letter off one of these days, and tell them to check out Yahoo's R&S. They are way behind the times (my nugget).
