My wife and i are off to New York soon and would like to know places to go,see and eat. Both are in our early thirty's and we love heavy metal so if there are any metal bars please tell. We have £2000/$4000.65 spending money and are there for 2 weeks.

You need a starting point. Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village is a good one. From the park if you head south visit Bleecker Street. North visit 8th Street and Otto Restaurant owned by a celebrity chef. Head east St. Marks Place. And West Jane Street and the White Horse Tavern where world famous poet Dylan Thomas used to get drunk.

Heavy metal go to the west village. Start on West 4th street and work your way down. Look for side diners and just go with the flow. Ride the subway at rush hour for a thrill. Walk walk and walk some more. I've lived in New York all my life and I still cant get enough of it.

This is hilarious...W. 4th subway stop is where I would also recommend anyone wander around (I live and work near here and love it!) Some of my all time favorite spots would include The Casablanca Tea Room (which is actually just really great spot for mojito happy hour - $6 from 6-8pm), if you like Vegetarian food there are awesome spots all around NYU including the Hummus Place, Sacred Chow and my newest favorite, Quantum Leap (they also serve Salmon), but even the most meat-lovin' fool will love the portabello pesto burger or even their plain vegetarian burger.

Ive got to recommend Morans of Chelsea, Its on 10th Ave on 19th street. I got married in NY and had my wedding dinner there. It was fabulous. The proprietor is Irish and couldn't be more helpful. I loved it. A real cosy bar/restaurant with bit oak tables and log fires. 4 dining area keeps it cosy and intimate too. Wonderful atmosphere.

Try and get to Coney Island. They are trying to redevelop it and it may not be there for long.
