I'm not recommending conversion (unnecessary), but there is much to learn from the Jewish community! "Joining" Judaism is like being adopted by a new family.

The best and only thing is not to join a religion, you should have a relationship with Christ. Read the Bible and after so doing then see what church you should attend. Religion is not the answer. Too many people get stuck on religion when there are people all over the world you worships Christ and has a relationship with Him.

I would usually try to explain my views from a more academic position but I think I'll take you up on your offer for a biased view.
Christianity.
Because we have all stuffed up. We all have regrets and things we wish we could take back. We often believe that God hates us or only loves us when we are doing the 'right' thing. This isn't true for Christians. Jesus loves us just for who we are, stuff up's and all. He doesn't need us to make the world a better place or to complete some mysterious plan that He has for the universe, but we are welcome to assist if we want to. Jesus just wants to know if we want to come along for the ride, to see what’s in store for us. He forgives every stuff-up that we ask Him to forgive, as long as the request is genuine, and offers us His hand in friendship in return.
Christianity isn't about rituals, rules, scriptures or codes. It's about the Love that God offers us, simply because we were created to receive it. Not for any other reason other than He loves us. The Bible, rules, scripture, and everything else that goes with Christianity is there if we want to stop our lives going down that path that led us to destruction in the first place.
I don't know if that was the answer you were looking for and I hope that people are mature enough not to mock this post because it is my genuine belief and the genuine offer that I was given. So I thank you for reading this post and I hope that you will also accept God's love into your life.

If someone wants to join a religious organization, that someone must listen to what his heart says. Then, he must ascertain that it teaches him things that are Scripturally true - all that is in the bible and not contradictory. Attend their ministry meetings and find out if the members are happy, cordial and accommodating. He can gauge his decision sometimes on the fellowship of the members, the kind of rapport and solidarity that exists between and with each member. Listen to the speaker: how are they imparting the truth to him, do they use the bible as their guide in all their talks, do they deviate from what the bible says? Are their arguments or discussions supported by bible scriptures or texts?

Why join any? After you join, most will want a monetary contribution from you. Religion should be free.
What are your beliefs? Do you believe in God?
Are you looking for camaraderie? What are you looking for?
Religion is a personal thing. For those who think differently I know that is hard to understand. If religion is not a personal thing, then why are we as individuals free to seek?

The best religion for a number of reasons is the one you share the most tradition with- like what family members have been in the longest, especially recent ancestors. If you just make a personal choice for yourself, it will not likely last long.

Most people tell you which one they like. Fine. But would it not be more important to find the one approved by God? People can give you an "Atta boy!" God gives life. HUMMMMM???
As a God of order, He would have a designated proper way of acceptable worship. It is found in the Bible. Comparing today's religions to the Bible will identify it.
On thing is pure worship. Throughout the Bible, God has shown without fail, He will not put up with mixed worship. Mixing with idols or pagan beliefs or other gods. These would automatically mark these religions as not worth your time. God is not with them no matter how loudly they say different.

Before I found Paganism I researched the many beliefs of the world. Religion books like...
Religion for Dummies or The Idiots Guide to (fill in blank with religion)...
Are great books to read up on.
Best of Luck with your beliefs, and don't settle on one before you know about them all!

If someone wasn't in a religion but wanted to join something, then it would be appropriate for someone to join something that was of interest to someone, that reflected the values of someone, that offered support to someone, and that helped someone meet their social needs. Why? Why else would someone want to join?

I say Christianity for this reason. Everybody has faults those faults are the sin that separates us from being perfect as God is perfect. Jesus lived a perfect life an earn a score of 100 On judgment day when your name is called, You will stand up on skay knees and God the father will open the book of the law, and the book of life. Christ will stand up and say"Father I know this person, I would like to apply my score on their behalf.: God will look at you and say "well done good and faithful servant." And what did you have to do to get to this point? ....Believe on Him. That He is who the Bible says He is, and that He died to cover your faults. Think of it like this. God looks down and sees a sewer and a bright stop in the sewer named Jesus. Those who are attached to Jesus get saved from the flushing. From Gods point of view He does not know that you were there if you were not attached to Jesus. Because God, being a good and loving God, rescued all life He saw before He pushed to flush lever. Because if you are not attached to Jesus your are automatically attached to satan. And satan is the sh-it God is flushing away.

Deism. It is based on common sense and reasoning. It does not rely on "divine relvelations" and holy scriptures. Anyone can claim anything. How could I, in conscious, know that they are telling the truth? The existence of the universe suggests a Creator. He gave us a brain. He expects us to use it.
