In my dream:

When I looked out of my 3rd floor house, I could see only darkness, though it was during the day. It was unusually dark. As I looked out the south facing window, I saw that it was raining very heavily, and there was a very strong gale. Behind the silhouettes of 2 coconut trees, I could see a large, bright, white moon-like orb going oscillating like a pendulum. I felt tremors, and thought it was an earthquake, and tried to hide myself. After sometime, I went near the window, and I saw that the entire town is flooded, and a strong water current is flowing right below my 3rd floor window, and rising steadily. I am frantically looking for a place to go, and think of moving to the terrace, taking my mother-in-law, who stays with me. At the back of my mind, I was worried about where my child (in school) and my husband (at work) were. Immediately after this, I woke up with a start, feeling very disturbed. It was 4:00 AM. I never get such wild dreams. What could this mean?

The fact that you were so disturbed and could remember it so vividly means that this is an important dream.

Houses often mean either the desire to feel safe or refers to the structure of your psyche. I think in your case it was the first.

Water often refers to the unconscious. Floods and a fear of water means that you are afraid of your unconscious and the power it holds. Some aspect that you are ignoring and has become part of your unconscious is threatening to "flood" your personality and "drown" you. What this aspect is I can only guess.

The moon and pendulums (oscillating) are both measures of time, although what the trees mean I can only guess.

Darkness is often associated with fear and the unknown.

You fear for your family. "What will this unconscious part of my personality do to them?"

How old are you? Due for a thirty-something or midlife-crisis? Especially the midlife-crisis is often associated with unassimilated material because the first part of your life is associated with the exterior world.

In the end only you can truly say what this dream means to you.

Hope this helps.

According to Dreamcrowd:

To dream that darkness comes upon you, signifies failure in work you may attempt. Darkness is synonymous with ignorance, the unconscious, evil, death, and fear of the unknown. If the sun breaks through the darkness, then you will overcome your failures. If you feel safe in the dark, then it suggests that you like not knowing about certain things. As some might say, ignorance is bliss. To dream that you cannot find someone in the darkness, signifies that you need to keep your temper in check. You have the tendency to let your emotions get out of control and lose your temper. To dream that you are lost in the darkness, denotes feelings of desperation, depression, or insecurity. To dream that you are groping around in the darkness, indicates that you have insufficient information to make a clear decision. Do your research and do not rush into making choices.

You sound like a worried lonely mom. I think in your real life you have many fears and are worried about bad things happening to you. You probably keep telling yourself (unconsciously) that you are helpless and hopeless.

I suggest you get friends and stop thinking about the dull side of life. Look at the positives and make yourself happy rather than waiting for something nice to happen for you to feel happy. Look at the good side of the coconut tree, moon, water currents, rain, darkness etc These are all good things but for some reason (in your dream), you chose to see them as bad things or threats rather than opportunities.

Be optimistic about the situations you come across in life and do not tend to think of them as threats or dangers. Be confident.

I feel this dream is meant to show you that you are carrying too many worries, some of which are unreal and they are stopping you from enjoying the good things in your life

Your dream was from the Lord. The dark skies you saw represent dark times which are coming ahead when trials and tribulations will hit more frequently. You said you looked out the south window. South represents the direction of "righteouness". God has passed judgement in His righteousness that things in the earth which are not established in Him will be "shaken". The tremors you felt in your dream represent a shaking of things in the earth. Anything which is not of God will be washed, blown, or utterly fally.
