This question may have something to do with thermo dynamics, [whatever they are]. I can remember a discussion in a pub about 30 years ago about this and when we got to the 6th pint we had decided that since there was a known speed of light, it follows [logically] that there must be a speed of dark, as yet unknown.

My guess is that the speed of dark is greater than the speed of light and therefore the light is sucked into the void left by the dark moving rapidly out of your bedroom and disappearing through the floorboards or wherever it goes.

Light comes in. Dark is nothing. Dark is just a lack of light. If dark were something to be let out, then opening the curtains would make the outside darker, right?

An interesting concept. Speaking from a pure physical science aspect the light always enters the darkness. We know of course that the sun always shines, however our visual senses tell us at night there is no natural light other than the Moons reflections of sunlight.
If we examine the esoteric view of light and dark it may be construed that before there was light there could only have been darkness. Until of course God came along and said let there be Light!

The high energy light engery comes in a chases all the sleepy dark particals out - sqeezing their sorry butts through the holes in the glass - which is why tinted windows work - they drug the light particals so they move a lot slower.

Also curtain material is too thick for dark to get through - even if some light can get it.

The light comes in.
Darkness is the absence of light.
You can block out the light, but you cannot block out darkness, in the absence of light.
The energy of light is related to its wavelength, which also determines which color of pigments will absorb it, and which will reflect it.
Have you ever found anything that will reflects darkness? That alone proves that darkness does not travel, it only appears to as absence of light expands.

You can reflect light into a dark room from a lit one. try using a mirror in a dark one, to reflect the darkness into a lit room.
this simple little experiment, should answer your question.

The dark is sucked out. The same goes for light bulbs, they suck the dark out of a room. See the link below for full details.
