we all know that illegal immagration will never end because when there's a will there's a way....but I don't understand why Mexico is the only country being targeted. It seems like Terrorist, crazy nuts, or anyone,... can come in through Canada. Why give them that chance? Doesn't that seem like the government is being more racist rather than protective?

The border with Mexico is only so long. It can't get any larger unless we change the geographical boundaries between the two countries. What say we annex Baja California? That would make a difference in the size of the border!

If you mean why are we considering building a fence along the border with Mexico, what rectal cavity have you had your head in for the last few decades?

Canada is NEXT!

Both are important. The trouble is that over 95% of the problem is at our southern border. Also we have better cooperation with Canada then we do with Mexico on assisting us with our immigration laws. It is not racist to address the problem where the problem is. This only diverts the attention of the problem. The problem is illegal immigration, not what country or race of people they are. To even say it is racist is only away to try and give the American people a feeling of guilt. It won't work ! Come here legally or stay out no matter where you come from or how you got here.

Actually, the terrorists caught about a year ago WERE coming in from Canada. However, terrorism isn't the main reason people want the wall--it's just a nice added argument. The main reason is because of people coming to the USA illegally to work, and because the people of Mexico are so bad off, we have a bigger problem with Mexican than Canadian immigrants.

Not nearly as many come through Canada and the Canadian border patrol cooperates with ours as Mexico's does not. However, we do have sensors there. The money just wouldn't be nearly as well spent on the northern border given the huge disparity of flow across the southern border. It isn't race, it is economics. Those south of the southern border tend to be poorer, those north of the northern border, less so.

The Canadian border is much harder to get over than the Mexican border. You need to remember there is 12-19 million illegal Mexicans in the US. If you look at the percentages we are being invade by the Mexican border a lot more than the Canadian border. It doesn't matter what border it is Terrorist, crazy nuts are still running borders besides the US.

My husband goes through Canadian borders three times a week, and they check everything in spades, it can sometimes take him up to four hours to clear customs, coming and going.
Part of it is that the terrain and weather between Canada and the US just isn't that conducive to walking across, no towns to stop in, or disappear into, cold and many months of snow and mountains make it difficult to cross in as many places as Mexico.
Mexico is not the only country targeted, its just a place that encourages illegal immigration, and looks the other way as their citizens leave. We have also taken in less people from Arab countries in the past years than ever before.

There are not millions of illegal Canadians rushing across their southern border into America for the terrorists to blend in with. There are also not millions of indigent Canadians sneaking in here to live off our governmental largess.

We may not be able to end illegal emigration, but we could slow it from a flash flood to a mere trickle.

Wouldn't it be novel for our esteemed Congress to actually do something about the border while they're in office, instead of holding slumber parties?

I personally think it's better (and necessary) if we have a larger border (and border agents) on our Northern border and Southern border. We need to secure this country for once and for all. By the way, more people would realize that this effort (of having a border on both sides) would be for national security reasons, not racial profiling. Thanks!
