And get stars for it? I have been an Atheist all my life, thanks to my parents letting me choose for myself. I love life, help others less fortunate than myself & i work hard. I take responsibility for my own mistakes & never blame others &, in crisis, i never pray to what i cant see, hear, touch, taste or smell.
I think im a good, fun person to be around but... why do we Atheists cop so much crap from Religious people? I learn MY things from life experience, not from a book. I dont need a book to tell me how to drive a car or be a good parent like religious people need a book to tell them what to do, believe & preach. Dont i deserve a star like all the religious people on here get?

Just starred you :)
The unenlightened just have a whole lot of trouble thinking outside "the book", and require life's rules written out and interpreted for them by others. We should try to be more understanding of their limits and just live our lives as the good people we know ourselves to be. They'll catch up, or not.

Anyone can choose to be an athiest. However, I think there still resides in the human heart and mind those "big" questions. Where did I come from? Where am I going? Why is there evil and suffering? What happens when I die? I think every human person longs for meaning, truth and goodness. It seems many atheists follow that decision because it is the most intellectually sound. And most, because it follows from science. However, I believe there are questions that science simply cannot answer. Also, there are many people of brilliant intellect whom have come to believe. I do agree that many christians in this country, CAN be ignorant, but no more ignorant than many other people. Many christians are intelligent, informed, loving and are working to make this world a better place. I think grouping all christians into one "camp" where bad examples are displayed is an injustice. There are many bad examples of atheism such as was seen during WWII.

Nope.
Your a good, nice person. I'll take your word for it because I'm a trusting kinda guy. But you've made two decisions, reflected in this question, that I can't embrace.
1) You said you have learned "your things" from life, rather than a book. This either means you are entirely rejecting history, most of science, and higher mathematics, or you just aren't thinking all that much before you state your belief system. Either way, you aren't scoring points as someone who professes to operate as a rational mind.
B) You have defined yourself based on what you DON'T believe. Come back when you believe something, instead of disbelieving something. Articulate it effectively and clearly, and I promise you the coveted star.

I said something similar to a born again christian, he said even though I was a good person I would still go to hell for not believing. He was my friend for a long time and some of the things he used to do were pretty terrible. So I said I haven't done anything really terrible in my life, you have so what makes you so special? He said because I now believe and have confessed my sins. I told him he had double standards and he was looking for a get out of jail free card. Needless to say we don't stay in contact anymore, which is a shame as he was very funny before he converted.
Still, I hope he is now happy and out of trouble.
Can I have a thumbs up for my answer please?

I gave you a star, and I am a Christian. Of course you can be an atheist. You are one, aren't you? There you go! But, you might be wrong. Consider this. Your parents let you choose. Fine. But ultimately, we all choose; nothing can change that process. Secondly, being able to choose does not mean arriving at the right answer. You are quite emotional about all of this. You are a bit wounded by all the "crap" you get from my crowd. But atheism versus theism is not an emotional issue but one of truth. They both can't be right. Which one is? Atheism is wrong because it just can't account for all the realities of human nature. I suggest you read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, the Oxford don and English scholar of Chronicles of Narnia fame. Lewis was a hardcore atheist like yourself, but after going through some major league philosophical examination, he was forced to discard atheism and adopt theism. It wasn't until later that he became a Christian. This short book recounts that process. In fairness to your seeking the truth, you need to read this book. Then, if you still believe atheism is the way, good for you! But if not, then also good for you! You win either way.

yes you can get your very own star.
Can't remember the name of the service, but you can purchase a star's name, and give it your own. Then it will be your star forever.
They've found so many stars, that we could name them for people for thousands of years, and never run out. I'm sure with a google search you can find the service.

No, you are already kind of god. A higher level of creature in the world. I can say you are a real budhaist. The outside situation we cannot change but our heart and emotion can. Your motions did had already influenced them. Do whatever you are!

I'm agnostic. I don't believe that people who don't believe in God are automatically 'good' people. That's nonsense. Many are brash, rude, self-opinionated, intractable, prejudiced, insecure and snarky, just like many religionists.
'atheism' is not a cult or a mindset, it's just like the 'A' in 'atypical'
Neither is atheism cApitalized. Maybe you think it to be a kind of religion, or your atheism is born from an argument with religion?

Yep, you can be an atheist.
By all means don't let the eternity stand in the way of sensory deprivation.
However, I doubt that many of the stars will ultimately be yours.
Have a nice trip.
