The .357 Magnum 125 grain semi-jacketed hollow point out of a 4" revolver is still recognized as the best manstopper. So your question is, "Is a Colt .357 lethat at point blank range?"

Well, provided that the Colt is loaded with the proper ammunition, what do you think?

A blank loaded in a C7 (minus the firing assembly) has a lethal range of about a meter.

.22s are lethal at short (not point blank) range.

A .357, and pretty much every firearm billed as having stopping power, has a lethal range several times longer than it's effective (You actually have a chance of hitting) range, so several thousand feet at least.

In short: Any firearm can be lethal, especially at that range. It's just common sense.

Try this: Prop a piece of card board up about two inches in front of the muzzle of your gun. Fire it. The resulting blackened, burned, ragged hole should be about size of a quarter. If this were your belly the wound would be about the size of a baseball. Muzzle blast, hot expanding gases, and the bullet will cause devastating wounds at "point blank range".
