I buy a bottle of River rock, drink it and refill it for the fridge. My tap water is lovely and cold.

Bottled water is really bad due to the waste created from empty bottles all going to landfill or worse just chucked on the ground, it's a huge waste of resources and has a big impact due to transportation of the product. Better to just drink tap water if possible, cheaper and better for the planet.

I've never seen that on a Spring Water bottle. I don't drink manufactured water.
Spring water comes from an underground aquifer, not from a surface water that has been contaminated by industry and agriculture, then processed by a municipal water source, then remanufactured by the likes of Danone, Pepsi, or Coke.
I note that those longnecked brown beer bottles are sold with a deposit. When the bottles come back, the manufacturers *prefer* to get the used ones, because they are cheaper than new. What's more, if they get their own bottles back, they can usually reuse the beer case, which is expensive.
Perhaps there are similar economics with water bottles. Does your state charge a deposit? Our bottles say "CA CASH REFUND" but in Pennsylvania, the bottles are recycled into plastic, not reused by water companies.

The only thing I can tell you about bottled water if you get it there is you should not pay for Aquafina. They have recently been caught scamming selling tap water as spring water
Brands like Poland Springs and Dasani are truly spring fed waters subjected to filtration processes and even low level ozone treatments to ensure quality

I even have heard that reusing the bottles can enable micro organism to reproduce, purchase in case you wash them then that may not ensue. i could particularly wash and reuse our water bottles, because of the fact i think it particularly is a superb thank you to recycle. we actually get our use out of them formerly we toss them.

it doesn't matter, its just thier hype and protecting the brand so that someone doesn't refil it and take a sip of tap water in that bottle and mistake it for thier brand.
Do what you like with it, there are no water-bottle-police
don't re-sell it, obviously.
