Ignorance is bliss, they say. I've studied it and it gives me a sense of embarrassment that people still fall for crap like that.

Satan worship gives some a sense of bliss as well. Look, thats the wrong reason to join a religion (and in this case i use the term religion very lightly).
L.Ron Hubbard even admitted that he created that entire religion based on a bet with a buddy of his: could he actually start his own religion based on "dianetics".
Well, he won the bet. People will scammer
to join anything new, or to find any new "truth" out there. The real truth is that there aren't any "new" truths or revelations.
If what you want is to feel "blissful", take a xanax and have a beer.
Madonna changes religions if she finds one that has better or cooler clothes she can wear.
What Christ said was pretty clear and sure is relevant to this generation:
He said they worship any and every new stalk or stone that comes by with a "holy" tag on it. When folks were wanting to go to see John the Baptist, Christ said of him:
What is it you are going out there to see? A reed shaking in the weed? No, but a Prophet". That reed shaking in the wind is a perfect example of folks today: they listen to one guy and bend toward that belief, and then another guy comes along who sounds so much better, so they bend towards that one. Just swaying with the wind, this way or that.
Christianity is not about swaying this way or that way with new ideals or new truths or new fads. There is nothing new under the sun. There are Churches you can join where all they do is laugh uncontrollably; there are those where you lay on the ground and roll.
You could choose a church where all they do is eat until they puke and thank the Lord;
Heck, you could try them all, and then you will be just like that reed shaking in the wind.

If you are looking for bliss, get a beer. If you are looking for fad religions, they are everywhere. But when you decide want you really want is the truth - even if its not so popular and even if it shines a light on your own misdeeds - if its the truth you really want, you can find that in the one Living God, and He provided His WORD, both in Book form and even sent it in the flesh -
that truth will never change regardless of fashion or fad; it won't change to give way to new ideas; it won't change to be better
politically correct. Any time you see a "truth" that does change for those things, you know it was never truth at all.

Scientology is nonsense that even its own
author called nonsense. But oh, to grab onto something new.
Just as truth will always remain the same, so will nonsense always remain nonsense.
Choose well; either you are a person who listens to whichever man sounds good for today, or you are the type of person who respects truth regardless of anything else,
and seeks it. Man will change, but truth
will never budge. Not for you, not for some group who feels it not politically correct, not for L. Ron Hubbard.
Enough said.

Bliss? Look, I'm a Scientologist (and have been for 35 years) and "bliss" is not a word I tend to associate with Scientology.

Fun, exciting, challenging, tough, real ... those are words that come to mind with Scientology. Scientologists help people with drug problems, criminal habits, study problems -- none of these involve "bliss" (which sounds to me like sitting in a room with stupid smile on your face).

Are you *sure* it was Scientology? Perhaps you got confused or something.

Bliss, that is cool! As long as you come out of it and do something. Scientology is after all about being able.

Certainly with Scientology you do get some awsome sensations, the purpose is of course to realise your native state.

It is up to you to decide what to do. As a Scientologist I would say read more books on it, apply it to your life and decide are you willing to help.

I'm sorry, I just have never been able to take the faith seriously. As I understand it, it's expensive to get into and I just don't see the point in that religion.
Couple it with the fact that the faith was created by a sci-fi author who pretty much admits he did it to make money and then you have yourself the terrific makings of a cult.
I can't think of any good reasons to join it. If it gives you bliss and you really believe that, then that's the only reason you should join.
As a Christian, I have to let you know that I wish you'd give us a try.

bliss is not the only feeling you should go by...in troubled moments what will matter is if God will bail you out...coz the fact remains that only He knows you very well, and still loves you...
its good you read bout scientiology .. since u want to take a stand for it, i see u r a passionate person.you believe in a free Spirit. be careful to whom you tie yourself to in the quest for freedom.
read the Bible, bout Jesus ,what He did here on earth.examine the claims of His followers now.
you see in every issue you must discern what is truth.
Jesus was the only man who claimed that He is the son of God, and even today ,people live in this belief.their lives are a testimony to that faith.they choose to do the right thing even when there is severe opposition.
test it out for yourself..you are on to something wonderful...try searching for the truth.

Scientology uses celebrities like John Travolta and Tom Cruise to promote it....it costs tons of money especially if you want to get to the higher levels.....and it's based on an alien race that was wiped out and supposedly their spirits are stuck in us and that is the cause for all the misery and depression.

Any rational human being would not believe for that kind of scam.

Bliss?

Please add additional notes so that we can share in that feeling.

Seriously though, it is a ridiculous and expensive ideology, based on the recent backlash against the practice of clinical psychiatry which did do a lot of harm to people in the twentieth century.

It is a disgusting pseudoscience masquerading as a church, its dogma was written by a science fiction writer who had it in for the psychiatric community.

Its metaphysical claims are EVEN WORSE than that of the monotheistic religions, its simply not false.

Heroin gives you a sense of bliss, too - doesn't mean it's good for you.

Yeah, sure, join.... if giving all of your money away and being cut off from your family makes you blissful, go for it.
