If you're in the Midwest, check out Bell's Brewery (in sources)
I noticed someone said Chimay Blue...this is the Gran Reserve. Runs around $12 for 750 ml., but I prefer the Premiere. The Gran Reserve had very little "beer" taste - from what I recall it almost tasted like wine.
Dos Equis is also not that expensive in comparison to other beers and is a lot better than corona.

Oboy. Where do you want me to start?
Avoid the big-name beers, grab your local directory and find a SPECIALIST beer store. Go there with $50 and tell the owner that you need a beer education. Run the gauntlet from pale ale to stout and porter. Be sure to include some REAL imports. By which I mean, it may cost $5 per bottle but it will be AWESOME. Belgian, probably.
Believe me, out there is the perfect beer for you. All you need to do is find it. And forget the macro-brews like Bud/Coors/Miller etc.

It depends what your looking for, Yuenling is a good American Beer along with Magic Hat, Sam Adams varieties, and many microbrews, Imports like Molsons (Canadian or Ice) from Canada are very tasty, darker imports like Guiness, Bass, Killians, and Harp are all good (and certainly don't taste like piss).

Usually beer that is very light in hops is described as "pissy" or watered down in taste.
I would suggest any IPA as a good start. These can be found at any liquor store.
PS: Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout is one of the most robust and flavorful beer in my opinion if you can find it.
